Good mornin’, and Happy Friday, y’all! Well, we made it through the hoopla and watched a very different man than what we’re used to seeing. Bombastic is not always better. But coffee is always good! And it’s even better when everything is in one place. I never actually knew anyone who had one of these, but I’m fascinated for some reason. Coffee up, and carry on!

Worldwide computer outage has hospitals and airports in a tangle. One of my hospitals had systemwide trouble with computers two days ago. Sure glad I’m not flying today (my recent experience with airport delays being enough for the year).

Mornin’ All. I would tell you that it is another beautiful day here, but I would be repeating myself, I guess. I think we can expect a few more of these.

The grandkids are going to come over for a while this afternoon. So, I have a little housekeeping to do before they get here. I can’t believe how fast life is going by now. My almost 4 yr old granddaughter said that someday she would get old and have white hair, and wrinkles, and dry skin. LOL. Out of the mouths of babes!

Have a nice day and hope your weather is good.

There are allegations floating around that J.D. Vance changed his name twice, and that there is some nefarious reason that he did that.

    1. His first name change (to last name Hamel) happened when his mother’s third husband adopted him.
    2. His second name change (to last name Vance) happened in 2014 at the time of his marriage. Vance is the name of his grandparents, the people who raised him.

Both occasions seem perfectly reasonable to me.

ADD: I understand that others will disagree with me, but I think it is nevertheless important that ALL the facts are known before drawing any conclusion.

    TODAY’S NEWS, July 18-19, 2024

Updated: 2 hours ago – The News of Today is the History of Tomorrow

On a personal note, I’ll be in and out for the foreseeable future. Spent some time (3 hours) in the ER when my left leg started leaking lymphatic fluid. Today is the 6th day that it’s continuing. The good news is that tests show there’s nothing wrong with my liver and the kidneys have remained at 3a, meaning I’ve still got 50-55% usage.

Upshot is that I must sit or lie down with legs straight or elevated for as many hours per day as possible. Seeing as my computer set up has no room for this and placing my keyboard/mouse in a convenient location for use is not really doable with a lack of proper furniture for same. LIFE!

Hope you all are doing OK!

    Bye for now!

Have they introduced you to the kidney support diets, which are limited, but my brother in law went on for years at the level just below needing dialysis by following one.

Hi, Czarina! One of the things that may have precipitated the recent “weeping edema” is that I went off my kidney diet when family was visiting in April and earlier this month.

You’re feeling good and get a little incautious. But going out to eat even items which the menus indicate are low sodium was still a bit too much. However, my lab tests showed that everything except two items was within the “normal” range, sodium included. So go figure!

So doubling down on being faithful to doctor and dietician orders will have to be my lot from now on. Luckily I do love baked chicken, fish and veggies plus my salads with olive or avocado oil as dressing, though it does get a tad boring on occasion.

The gunman who tried to kill Donald Trump was able to fly a drone and get aerial footage of the western Pennsylvania fairgrounds shortly before the former president was set to speak there, law-enforcement officials briefed on the matter said, further underscoring the stunning security lapses ahead of Trump’s near assassination.

Thomas Matthew Crooks flew the drone on a programmed flight path earlier in the day on July 13 to scour the Butler Farm Show grounds ahead of Trump’s ill-fated rally, the officials said. The predetermined path, the officials added, suggests Crooks flew the drone more than once as he researched and scoped out the event site.

IT WAS A SETUP – Senator Hawley: Whistleblowers Say Most of Trump Security Working Rally Were Not Even Secret Service

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) sent a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday demanding answers on the attempted assassination attack on President Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania last weekend.

Senator Hawley wrote that whistleblowers have notified him that a majority of the security officials working the rally last weekend were not even Secret Service personnel but were with the Homeland Security Investigations team.▪  Government officials also treated the attempted assassination as a “loose” security event and that canines were not used at entry points and to detect threats.

Why was the Secret Service even there? Were they just getting some OT pay for showing up on a Saturday? Doesn’t sound like they did much of anything except look a fool. Know someone who is in Grand Rapids for the shindig tomorrow. I should have some intel throughout the day tomorrow and will let y’all know what I hear.
