Good mornin’, Miss Wee! Truly an unforeseen consequence of what has transpired over the past several days. YOu should probably come get some coffee to contemplate this SNAFU.
😀

How would you like to be running an organization where you see nothing but memes come across everywhere, all day long. Head of the USSS, Eff-Bee-Eye, FAA and the street and bridge dept of the country. The list goes on and on. I hear coffee helps us cope.

Mornin’ T! They’ll be insulting Pepsi soon!!

I’ll bet that Pepsi is a really cool place to work as I’m sure this chick was able to really incorporate some of these neat rules. I’d reassess all of my security if I’m the CEO there.

While I feel for this young lady, it’s not at the expense of the future POTUS. She showed her ineptitude in front of the world. No different than trying to sing the Star-Spangled Banner when you’re hammered. Except that people really did die due to this chick and her incompetent comrades. You don’t get to take it back.

I do NOT feel sorry for any of them. If they can’t do the job they should be fired – just like the rest of us peasants would be.

I am with you Weed. In fact, if a single one of the women agents performed well, I missed it, and really do hope someone points out to me that I’m wrong. I wouldn’t mind being wrong about this, but I don’t think I am, based on that video of the female Moe, Larry, and Curly getting him into the limo. And the ducking behind him at the shots fired.

Good mornin’, kids! It’s Friday eve and if you stayed up late watching our next Vice President introduce himself to the world last night you might be a tad groggy this morning. Here’s a copper/brass urn with double spigots for the two-fister’s here. Carpe your coffee!

I did stay up to watch, and I can surely use some good strong coffee!
Mornin’ Tex.

Stella,
Now that you’ve had your coffee, are there any impressions about his speech you’d like to share?
I noted:
His grandmother. She was one feisty soul, rooted in faith. But he doesn’t mention his own.
He doesn’t make the much of the narrative first person until his marriage.
He speaks more of family than the foundational principles in his life.
Nothing definitive about him.
Just observations, others may have come away with another perspective.
A significant difference from former President Trump.

It’s a political speech, geared to gaining support. His background as a poor kid with an addict mother in a rust belt town who was raised by his grandmother does that.
This may be helpful; it is a summary on Brave based on a search for “j.d. vance principles”:
Based on the provided search results, here are the key principles associated with J.D. Vance:
Authoritarian tendencies: Vance has expressed admiration for authoritarian leaders like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and has suggested that the US could learn from his policies, including those related to dealing with dissidents at universities.
Limited government: Vance is influenced by the Claremont Institute, a think tank that advocates for a return to founding American principles like limited government and the protection of natural rights. He has enthusiastically supported Trump’s crusade against the administrative state and “woke” initiatives like DEI and critical race theory.
Protection of natural rights: Vance shares the Claremont Institute’s emphasis on the protection of natural rights, which he believes have been eroded by government bureaucratization, moral relativism, and multiculturalism.
Critique of progressive era: Vance, like the Claremont Institute, sees the Progressive Era as a turning point where America lost touch with its founding ideas. He believes that this era’s emphasis on government intervention and social engineering has contributed to the country’s current problems.
Trumpism: Vance has been a strong supporter of Donald Trump, and has defended his presidency against criticisms. He believes that Trump identified real issues in American communities that have been left behind, and that his policies aimed to address these concerns.
Anti-woke: Vance has spoken out against what he sees as the excesses of “wokeness,” including the reworking of artistic works to incorporate progressive themes. He has also criticized the use of terms like “DEI” and “critical race theory” in education.
Focus on community and family: Vance’s memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” highlights the importance of community and family in his upbringing and worldview. He has emphasized the need for a stronger sense of community and social cohesion in American society.
These principles are not exhaustive, and Vance’s views may have evolved over time. However, based on the provided search results, these are some of the key ideas associated with his worldview.

I would add that his entire speech exemplifies his belief in the American Dream. He speaks of the ability of a poor kid from a rust belt town to achieve the same things as a kid from a rich family.
He is an adult Catholic convert. Here is what some Jesuits think about it:
https://www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2024/07/16/five-faith-facts-jd-vance-trump-vp-248368
From Wikipedia:
During his time in the Senate, Vance has been described as a neoreactionary, national conservative, right-wing populist, and as an ideological successor to paleoconservatives such as Pat Buchanan.
Vance describes himself, and has been described by others, as a member of the postliberal right. He has cited the authors Patrick Deneen, Rod Dreher, and Curtis Yarvin as influences on his beliefs. Peter Thiel, William Julius Wilson, Robert Putnam, David Autor, René Girard, Raj Chetty, Oren Cass, and Yoram Hazony are also said to have shaped his thinking.
On social issues, Vance is considered to be strongly socially conservative. He opposes abortion, same-sex marriage, and gun control. Vance supports the banning of pornography and federal criminalization of transgender healthcare for minors. He is opposed to continued American military aid to Ukraine during the ongoing Russian invasion.

Thank you, Stella.
I hope he is able to expound more on these in his future speeches.

Right now his job is to support President Trump’s agenda. In the meantime, there is information about him that we can seek out ourselves.

I’m pretty sure that most of us have at least heard about the former CIA worker who has been feeding S. Korea a bunch of classified information. Did you know that she’s married to a big never-Trumper, Max Boot. He was one leading the charge about Trump being a Russian asset. How nice.

Interesting read.
Donald Trump will give a speech tonight accepting a nomination to save today’s approximation of Middle Earth from goblins, orks, pedophiles, fallen wizards, ballot harvesters, identity politicians, dragons, idiots, malevolence, vagrants, Antifa, dementia, wokesters, BLM, and sundry other Democrats.
On the first three days of the Convention, Trump seemed different. He seemed more calm, more at peace. Fire no longer spews from his mouth. Rather, a radiance shines from his eyes.
He’s becoming a leader. Not the “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!” type, although those were his words as his fists pounded the air when he rose from the stage floor last Saturday afternoon.
That was then, when he’d been cowardly ambushed by another messed-up product of our messed-up culture. Trump’s defiance and fight were the natural and right reaction.
But bravado now is unnecessary and unhelpful. Now, he knows he’s been tasked with something big, and so do the people. Now, he and they know that he’s fully capable of performing this task. Now, he and they know his orange head has a purpose more noble than being exploded by a bullet, and more graceful than spouting inflammatory rhetoric.

Keep in mind…the lefts portrayal of Trump had been embodied by the Balloons they made of him, a fat, pouting, baby, in a diaper, with tiny hands, They used that caricature in everything, cartoons, opinion pieces, rhetoric.
Obama was a tough guy, Hillary was a “Tough, Stronk” woman, Biden was a Tough Guy…Trump was a silver spoon, pasty, pudgy, entitled WIMP.
This “New” Trump isn’t new, it is what he always was, the Truth has just been “Revealed”.
He has stood back up, bloody but unbowed after EVERY attack on him…by the Cia/FBI/Justice dept, by the congressional Dems, by the lawsuits and Lawfare in the courts, by the IRS, by the media, by Hillary, the DNC, Biden, the mega corps, the digital $Billionaires$…this time when it was actual gunfire it is just undeniable, instantaneous, and caught for posterity live on irrefutable film.

I’ve been preoccupied and yeah, perhaps argumentative at the Tree today.
This is the final paragraph I wrote in one of my earlier comments.
I’d bet my last dollar that what President Trump has become is not even close to what he thought he was taking on when he started his campaign, even when he served his first term. I think he started with good intentions, but he didn’t become the lion he is on his own steam alone.
Even the mighty President Trump has changed, been changed, by his journey. We all are.

Afternoon All. Another hot day here and I have been told it will be over 100* on Sunday. This too, shall pass. I just know it won’t last forever. Before too long there will be snow on the ground again.
I went to my second, 7 yr old, granddaughter’s birthday party yesterday. Her mother made her a chocolate cake with chocolate icing (which was absolutely delicious) and then we made little pink piggies out of fondant (I think it is) to put on top. Her mother told her she could set the pigs on top of the cake and when she turned back around the b-day girl had put the pigs every which way looking like they had rolled in the mud. It was hilarious. She has such a cool sense of humor. What fun!!!
Hope you all have a nice day.

I have to admit that I learned something new about cemetery plots I never knew before. I had no idea they were symbols of white supremacy, or nationalism, or something. Young Mr. Vance could be a bad seed with things like this.
