Tucker Carlson and his team tour the Kiyevskaya metro station in Moscow, Russia.

I am sure Tucker will be severely criticized for portraying anything in Russia in a positive light.

Moscow Metro’s beautiful architecture. Moscow metro is world’s second busiest metro after Tokyo’s transit system with 12 lines, 185 train stations. First operation date 1935.

    This reminds me of Union Station in Chicago, or any of the many other stations built in the USA before WWII. Why do we build ugly stuff now, and don’t care for it?

    Back in 1985, my team won the right to place interactive kiosks in Amtrak stations from Maine to Florida. IIRC, it was 11 stations. We had many, many advertisers raring to go and a fabulous kiosk design that presented 8×10 pictures, along with interactive video on a touch-screen 25″ monitor for each ad – places to stay, eat, shop, etc. IIRC, collectively the stations got over 10 million travelers/year. We had about $6 million in paid ads/year.

    Started in WDC station; an absolutely beautiful building. Found out that marble floors were a problem. (this was before wireless) The maintenance folks would not permit any of the marble floor tiles to be removed (to run phone lines), unless we put up a $35,000 non-refundable bond (for each station); because tiles were no longer available and they only had 6 spares. Killed the project and our relationship with Amtrak.

    mornin’ all ya’all. Bright and sunny finally, heading to the lower 60’s in Charlottesville, VA. Not spring yet, tho, as they are predicting snow on Saturday…
