Good mornin’, kids! A happy Christmas Eve to all. Coffee’s running since I knew we’ll all need it early and often the next couple of days! Grab a cup and sit a spell if you can. Safe travels to all who may be on the road or air!

Oh my goodness, do I ever need that. Here I was thinking I was going to have to peel out from under these covers and make it myself!
Happy Christmas Eve T. May Santa be good to you!

My aunt in Wyoming had one, I think it was called a mangle. I thought it was strange. I used to iron tablecloths using a GE iron from the 50’s, on a wooden ironing board (the one my parents used for a dining table when they got married). I still have the iron, because it is heavy and really works well.
Czar was the ironing king. Every night he did his Oxford shirt or BDUs with spray starch. Wore out several irons and metal ironing boards.

You mean that big thing with a roller that we ran the clothes thru and flattened them out? We had one and ironed OUR SHEETS!!! for goodness sakes. Now I just wash them and put them back on the bed.

1 to 2 Cups of Coffee May Inhibit COVID Infection: Study
The Epoch Times – December
That morning cup of Joe may do more than perk you up for the day; it could protect against infection from different COVID variants.
New research reveals that coffee, enjoyed worldwide for its signature fragrance and flavor, may fend off illness by preventing SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, from attaching to cells.

Remember when NY Mayor Adams started jawboning Joey Mumbles about the illegals in his city. Joey and his crew have answered with a Federal money laundering lawsuit towards one of Adams companies he set up a few years ago. I do love a good catfight.

Our Favorite Sunday Columnist has some thoughts on Jack Smith’s not-so-good week. A link at the bottom of the article talks about the filing against Smith and his “illegitimacy”. Top off your coffee and sit a spell.

In our old house, where we raised the boys, we remodeled extensively once the oldest was gone. My husband, who had been relentless and awesome at destroying the firstborn’s cig stashes, pulled the floor vent up in preparation to remove carpet.
Tied by a string, a pack came along.

National Egg Nog Day – usually get Borden’s, but in Miami when we we’re growing up the Farm Stores sold a thick, very rich Egg Nog which was easy to spice up and spike without making it too thin. My father preferred Southern Comfort in his.

Good Christmas Eve day, Czarina! A big YES to egg nog. Mom always made egg nog for Christmas and also as a little treat when we were getting over an illness. Sugared frothy egg whites topped it off.

Gotta be Mayfields around here. Thick and delicious. Unfortunately, my husband just had a hip replacement and is still on a few painkillers a day, so no not for hm. Otherwise, he’d be like Wee’s husband.

Afternoon All. It was about 20* this morning. It is now 33* and sunny. I was shocked at that. We haven’t seen much sun in the last few months.
Had a very nice church service this morning. The new grandson slept through most of it. He only woke up when it got quiet for a minute and then when the singing started again, he went right back to sleep. He never cried.
Hope you all are having a nice Christmas Eve.

Alert: Check Labels in the Store and Do NOT Buy Chinese Garlic
By C. Douglas Golden December 24, 2023 at 11:30am
If you don’t check where your garlic is coming from, according to a prominent senator, you could be in for a very nasty surprise.
In a letter to Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott warned that garlic grown in China could be nourished on human waste and ought to be investigated.

Watch This Stunning Video of Trump and Our Troops on Christmas Day
SMG News Wire – December 24, 2023
This is an absolutely powerful video that tells the story of President Trump’s secret trip to war-torn Iraq on Christmas Day. It was five years ago. The video is a poignant reminder of how much the military loved their Commander-in-Chief and how much President Trump loves our nation.
Watch and remember. Remember that moment and have a merry Christmas.

Can’t go to bed without this…………….
By Clement Clarke Moore
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes — how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!
