Thank You, Lord, for the beautiful scenery of America….
Ruidoso, New Mexico…

Jackson Hole, Wyoming…

Horsethief Lake, Black Hills National Park, South Dakota…

Late Fall in the Badlands, North Dakota…

My second photo choice for the Badlands. The composition is so lovely….

Both are very dramatic images, Lucille. Probably labeled ‘badlands’ by the settlers trying to navigate westward.

Snake River, WY Live Webcam – SeeJH.com (taped December 2018).
This video starts at 07:27:16 AM and runs for 11:55:01 hours. It’s fun to pretend you’re sitting at riverside and seeing it in person (bundled up warmly, of course). There’s no music, no sounds of any kind, making it very peaceful and actually rather serene.

….and that one that mentions a “yon virgin”….through my six and seven year old stage, when I was able to follow the words in the hymnbook, I sure did wonder what a yon virgin was. Never dared ask.

You’re up early, Miz Wee! I never went to bed last night. Can’t believe it. Presently it’s a toss-up…should I hit the sack and sleep until noon or just stay up for a personal record of some kind?

Mornin’ Lucille! I vote go to bed!

Which I did shortly after posting…and got up at 2:00 PM. Only a couple times in my life did I stay up all night and not go to sleep at all.
One time I remember that my best gal pal, Jacki, and I had been to a huge party which went on and on. Around 4:00 AM we decided to go for a drive around Beverly Hills in her new-to-her Jaguar….

1970 XJ6
I finally got home around 8:00 AM after we stopped for breakfast somewhere, and wasn’t even sleepy. Ah, youthful adventures.
One of the funny things that happened at the party…Jacki was a 5’9″ blonde beauty and all the guys were very friendly. She danced with most of them except one very eager and persistent fellow she took a dislike to and wouldn’t give him the time of day. He asked me what her name was and I told him it was Fifi. If anyone did not look like a Fifi it was her. She had such a laugh over it. Poor fellow.

Ohhhh the scenic photos – sigh. Yes, I would like to go there now and live off grid. If I never saw another electronic communication device, I would die happy.
Thanks for the response yesterday, Stella. I had no access to CTH via the desktop computer. I could later go on via droid phone, both use Brave browsers.
The CTH is back up and accessible on both this morning. I posted and apparently Duchess01 had issues too… though other sites were accessible except CTH. My heart stopped a little – until I remembered Who God Is and how He Reigns over all things, but I would have been sad to lose contact with our friends.
Bless you, sister.

Mornin’ all ya’all! Grey and very windy, feels colder than it is because of the humidity.
Fell asleep by 8:30, but awoke at 11:50, so I read for an hour+. The anticipated rain arrived, and I fell asleep soon after. Awoke at 4:10 when the electricity went off, and the smoke alarm went on continuous scream. Felt my way around in the dark with worried dogs getting in my way, used my phone to find flashlight and battery. Generator came on so I could find the battery door. Finally got back to sleep after 5.
Dogs woke me at 7:30. Generator is still on. Outage map shows my “neighborhood” is the last still out, and generator is rattling merrily along. I believe a late morning nap will happen.

It’s back on. Thanks for the good wishes. The high winds may break another branch and it could go out again. Need to check the propane tanks and call for refills tomorrow.

The thought of “living off the grid” sometimes gets re-evaluated when the power goes out for several days. Doesn’t mean we might not have to do it….just a bit more reality kicks. It’s almost 3 years ago now when the ice storm left most of central Oregon without power for 10-13 days. I was out for 10. Exhausting….and I did know how to manage ok. Still exhausting. You spend all day trying to stay warm, fed, and clean….before you fall into bed to try to ecover.

The last time we had an extended power outage was when the whole east coast went down, and it was HOT summer! I spent periods in my car with the air conditioning on and listening to the radio. My neighbor periodically let me use his generator to run my refrigerator. Water was a problem for a bit of time too, but that quickly was resolved by the city.

PS: At one time I lived in a small house with a well. Of course, every time we lost power, we also lost water, so I immediately filled up as many containers as I could get. Fortunately (?) we had an oil heater in our living room, so we were still warm.

Isn’t that the thing w/water!!??? Yes, in MN we had a wonderful well but — if the power’s out, there’s no water coming into the house, so you think quick and think ahead!!
During the outage here, I also learned how to bypass the electric garage door opening….interesting.

Yeah – I kept my cell phone charged by the car, and also figured out how to dry my hair using the carefully directed car heater vents! Fortunately, I have a gas water heater so I did have hot water during those days, but no heat in the house and temps were only in the mid-30s at the highest for those days. Eric and Kayla had the opposite: they had heat for the house (with their big gas fireplace) but no hot water…so everybody found ways to do the workarounds. It works! But sure takes a lot of time and energy!
I took particular pleasure in using my very old charcoal grill and made a point of having a hot bowl of soup for lunch every day. Fortunately, there was no wind, so I could sit at the picnic table in the sunshine and have my soup. Made me feel all wealthy ‘n stuff!….and then, back to lugging firewood in for the fireplace. I never got the indoor temp above 47 degrees (f) during those days, but 47 was better than 40 or so when I woke up in the morning.

I don’t have a fireplace, and although I have gas hot water and a gas furnace, the heat from the furnace is distributed by forced air (electricity), so it doesn’t heat the house. I have turned on my gas stove burners to generate heat, but that isn’t very safe and not recommended, although it kept me warm!

Yeah – my furnace was/is gas, but without electricity it doesn’t run, of course.

PS: My neighbor has a device on his fireplace that heats the house (a Heatalator?), but I don’t know if it works without electricity. Probably not.

Our Favorite Sunday Columnist takes a look at the happenings of last week with regard to the “Leaders” of these institutions of so-called “higher learning”. One down, many more to go. The number is much larger than 2, but that would be a start.
Also lays out some interesting surveys that essentially found that most of the moronic students blathering on the latest slogans have no idea what they’re yelling about. Top off your cup and sit a spell.

I particularly liked when someone suggested replacing “ Jewish” with “Black” or “Muslim” in the chants and slogans. All of a sudden the words are unacceptable and action must be taken to stop the speakers.

I see Alex Jones has been reinstated on X (Twitter) after 5-year suspension. Made me chuckle, thinking that Elon must”ve seen the Tucker interview and said, “No, I’m NOT afraid of having Alex on the forum!”

The next time you hear someone b*tching about Gov. Abbott sending “refugees” to their city, remind them that Brain-Freeze Brandon is the one doing most of the people-moving. San Antonio officials aghast at finding out about “secret” hideaway location right under their nose. I can assure you that there are none of the S. A. city council who would be voting the same way we do on these pages.
