Good mornin’, kids! Coffee’s up. Heading for the Hillz and Rancho el Gordito shortly, so I’ll be out of commission for a good part of the day. Enjoy!

Remember how the gubmint tied highway funding to the 55 MPH speed limit and seat belt laws, and revised DWI limits? Yeah, me too! Now they’re tying funding to the whole woke agenda and bike paths, and racist roads. They’ve got six ways from Sunday to scroo us and they use them all. :/

Mornin’ all ya’all. Cool and bright. Front came through last night and left an inch of needed rain.

National Gingerbread Cookie Day – never liked gingerbread. Tastes like soap to me.

National Stuffing Day – seems a bit early, but I could eat some today…

Hello, Czarina! Stuffing made with gingerbread cookies…how would that taste? For me ginger is addictive in any form.

Red mittens get a favorable nod from me…just got a pair last week. TV is something that’s never turned on in my home anymore, but I just may watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade if it’s shown on any station in my cable package, which is doubtful seeing as I have “basic” coverage.

It’s a cool and dingy day here in the Panhandle. Supposed to rain lightly tomorrow, although Thanksgiving should be cold but mostly sunny.

Afternoon, All. It was about 25* and very sunny when we got up. It was so bright out it hurt my eyes. And, it has warmed up to over 30* in the last hour. They are talking snow tomorrow which bothers me because I need to drive to my son’s on Thursday. I guess we will see what happens.

Well, I am done here for now. I need to have the air pressure checked in my tires today, so I want to go get that done now.

Hope you all have nice weather.

Remember the other day when I was talking about my favorite classical music pieces? I forgot something that happened in about 1970. At our parties we always finished the evening with a playing of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture (strange, I know), and on one instance we had the police called on us for loud music. The cop thought it was pretty funny.

Note on this video on YouTube:

WARNING: Cannons may make dogs bark, scare your mom, leave your neighbor dumbfounded, make cats panic, wake you up in the middle of the night shouting at the top of your lungs because you think you are being robbed, scare the crap out of you, and/or blow up your ears and brains; among other things…

Gabriel Heattor was right. There’s good news tonight.

My neighbor’s 90-something year old mother died about eight months ago. He had cared for her for several years at home because the family did not want her in residential care and also did not want to care for her. She and her late husband had a trust fund covered in a will, and also had designated that this son (who cared for her) should receive their house upon her death. His sister and brother did not contribute to her care. He had to PAY the brother’s expenses to drive here from another state when he was willing to see her.

After her death, the sister filed criminal charges against my neighbor, accusing him of abusing their mother, stealing her money, and causing her death by neglect, etc. He was served with papers re those criminal charges, and was to appear in the regional Superior Court today to plead to enter a plea.

He had kept copious records of all kinds, because of spidey senses (as Sundance would say). He is a very kind and low-key personality type of man, in his late 60s. Over the past six months, he has been in a living hell, being interviewed by police as a criminal suspect, under constant threat and surveillance from his siblings.

Last evening, with no prior “warning”, he was informed that:

    1) the charges were dismissed a couple of days ago because there was no support for them;

    2) the authorities, including the police that interviewed him, will be visiting her and her husband at their home, and explain to them about the seriousness of filing false criminal charges; and,

    3) he has been encouraged by court officials to file charges against her.

The grace of God and the skillful persistance of his son are both indispensable parts of this outcome. His sister is married to a pastor; they are “christians”.

Everything is not awful today. I am celebrating. Everything is NOT awful today.

(and I have left out 95.3% of the details….)
