The whole point of tolerance is that you are putting up with something wrong, because you can’t, or until you can, make it right. You tolerate a toothache until you can get to a dentist. You don’t tolerate a beautiful sunset.

Sometimes tolerance is putting up with something wrong, but it can also be putting up with something you disagree with that is not necessarily “wrong” – like a tolerance for another religion, or a lifestyle choice. For example, I tolerate homosexuals, although I believe that homosexual acts are sinful. I also tolerate Jehovah’s witness members, although I think their religion is misguided.

I think these things are quite different from tolerating abortion or assisted suicide, which harm others.

Agreed, and a wise distinction, although I will add that I do not consider Jehovah’s Witnesses Christians. I’d call them a sect at best, a cult at worst. When you teach anything contrary to the Bible, when you contradict the teachings of Christ, I dispute the label Christian.

Well, I called them a religion, but not a CHRISTIAN religion. To be honest, I really don’t want to know any more about them than I already do!

ADD: I barely tolerate members of the United Church of Christ, to which I once belonged. They have jumped off the bridge, imo.

I have believed, for some time, that tolerance has been incorrectly taught for the last 45 years.
When something is wrong then and I mean immediately, it needs to be confronted . The problem has been and remains to this day when people confront wrongnesses and are confronted about their stand on an issue their belief is not rooted in a concrete truth such as a Biblical truth!!!
Abortion , sold to America as a choice principal.
The correct response IS- choice for who- certainly not the choice of the Baby!!
But we are forced to TOLERATE this position because of modern liberalism!!!
The ancient position is “Thou Shall Not Kill”!!
Easy to understand not TOLERANCE accepted!!!
