This looks pretty good except for the garlic kale. I don’t think I could swallow that.

It always amazes me how cheap food is in the US.

Yes, I know that’s a relative thing, but wow.

Depends on where you are in the U.S. too. He is in the St. Louis area.

I tried to look at the package of chicken, full screen and highest resolution. It looks like that entire package was under $5???? That can’t be right, can it?

I was curious and looked up the current sale price at our local grocery store for the same cut of chicken. It’s $3.49/lb, or US$2.55 at today’s exchange rates. So for 4 pieces, that would be about roughly Cdn$12 or almost US$9, assuming each leg and thigh is a little under a pound. When I see them as family packs in the stores at regular price, there’s usually 6 of them in a pack, and they are at about Cdn$25/US$18 or more for the package. So what he paid at Aldi would just barely cover a family pack of those chicken legs and thighs. Granted, that would be more chicken in the pack, at least, but you should couldn’t get all those groceries for only $30. Not even close.

I just checked my Kroger, and you can get 10# of chicken leg quarters for $8.99, and that is the Shipt delivery price. Checked the Kroger website, and the same chicken is $7.99 for 10#.

At Aldi, the price listed on line for my local store is $1.19 per pound for an approx. 5# package.

I am in the Detroit suburbs, and my Aldi store is in Clawson, MI, if you want to check.

I shopped his list at my Aldi for pickup, and got a total of $39.36. I got a full 5# of the chicken, and some things I subbed – I got 2 packages of 12 oz. organic chopped kale, because that is all they had, a package of jalapenos, because no poblano, a 3-pack of garlic.

            Pretty close.
