Afternoon All. It was 45* this morning when we got up with a clean blue sky and lots of sun. I never expected to see this kind of weather here. I was expecting overcast and ugly all the time. And, Loki loves the cool weather. She ran almost all the way on our walk. She stops to pee and I keep walking, then she runs past me and finds something to sniff. She really is enjoying it.
They are finally working on fixing the sidewalks around our building. They started with the jackhammers this morning. I will be glad to get it over with. But, I am glad they have at least started. It seems they only work here a couple of days a week.

Watching parts of this makes me cry. In the first 20 minutes there is an interview with a woman who has had her 12 year old daughter and elderly mother kidnapped by the terrorists at her mother’s home. She, her younger daughter and her boyfriend were able to lock themselves in a safe room at her house, so they survived.

Sundance has given a guideline for these days that makes a lot of sense in the everyday world, including letting the tender (and usually desired) sensibilities go.
I think I’m doing all right on that journey.
When I saw the headline at this link a few minutes ago, my first thought was, “Well. Stop taking them to the hospital. Leave them lay at the foot of the wall. Word will get around.”
My second thought had had to those who glue themselves to the streets to stop traffic. Leave them glued there. Let the drivers decide if they will find a way around or opt for a way through; whichever the drivers choose, leave them glued there.
Until the decay of the glue or their corpse allows for easy removal of the remains. No caps here. No exclamation points. I’m not saying this for effect. I’m saying to cleaerly communidate my thoughts.
So, yeah, my normal sensibilities are evolving (the left always talks about evolving thoughts as being a good thing, so I guess they would approve).
Lots of situational awareness going on at all levels. Yes.

Exactly.
I have concluded that, on both political and personal levels of understanding, most have no useful understanding of the reality of consequences.
The consequences for these fence-fallers, now under the tender care of orthopedic surgeons, ICUs, and internists?
Months of medical care at no cost, along with food and clean beds (at no cost to them). Further time for rehab.
Perhaps their families will camp and cook in the hospital lobbies. Or they may attack the hospital employees.

I lived as a child really close to the Rio Grand. Back in those dinosaur days ranchers, homeowners, whatever – just shot illegals when they came. You know, back when livestock rustling, property destruction, rape, etc. were CRIMES. So I HAVE no sympathy. None. In fact, I think a few pot shots daily would slow the current flood tremendously.
