Not sure exactly who “wrote” the Patriot Act, but we sure as h*ll know who was in charge when it was rammed through. We’ve been talking about this for many years now, and it hasn’t gotten one lick better. Many of those tinfoil-hat things we were talking about in 2009 and 2010 sure seem to have come to fruition.

Mornin all ya’all! Dangerous to be a dog in his presence.

Rained last night for about 25 minutes, really hard on my metal roof. Total about 6/10 inch. Now overcast and wet outside, with cool front coming this weekend. Hooray. 100* summer is over!

Mornin’ All. It was 37* when we got up. They had said there may be frost, but we didn’t see any on our walk.

My friend in Florida just got back from a cruise. Her dog has been acting weird for a year or two. She will just sit and stare at her for long periods of time. She picked her up at the kennel and took her straight to a vet because she couldn’t stand up. The vet says she probably has a brain tumor and something else. We all know how hard this is. The dog is 14 years old. My friend is going to take this really hard no matter what decision she has to make. I feel so sorry for her and I know that everyone here can sympathize.

Well, hope you all have a good day.

So sorry for your friend. Most of us have faced it, and know how it feels.

Update on the little doggie. The kennel she was staying in took her to the ER vet and they did all kinds of tests and figured she had a brain tumor or a stroke (I guess). When my friend went to pick her up she took her to the SPCA hospital for a second opinion. They said she has vertigo and a problem with an old hip injury that was never treated, maybe broken back, that happened when she was young and hit by a car. That happened before my friend got her. Anyway, it appears to be treatable and they gave her some meds which already seemed to have helped. Anyway, it is not as dire as it seemed at first.

The SPCA at first said they didn’t an an available appointment, but when they heard my friend’s name their tune changed and they got her right in. My friend is a big donor to this local SPCA.

    The Party’s Over

“The ceremony of innocence is drowned:

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.” –W.B. Yeats

Osama bin Laden rightly coached his followers that “the people want to follow the ‘strong horse’ and will abandon the weak one.” We are witnessing our nation now being destroyed by the powerful Democrat demons and betrayed by the pitiable weakness and cowardice of our Republican champions. Unless the Republicans, the Patriots, the Conservatives, the lovers of our Constitution, quickly rise up and display backbone, this great American experiment may well perish from the earth.

Jonathan Turley’s take on Hillary Clinton calling for “deprogramming of ‘Deplorables’:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has caused another stir by suggesting that the millions of Trump supporters may require a “formal deprogramming” in a CNN interview. It was a moment clearly enjoyed by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, who previously suggested that the FBI should have stopped Trump from making certain campaign statements. Even former FBI Director James Comey balked at Amanpour’s suggested censorship. Now, Amanpour has clearly found a kindred spirit.

My concern over the comment is less whether Hillary Clinton is serious. (I really do not know). I am more concerned by the continued reckless rhetoric from national leaders. I previously objected to other comments by Trump. Yet, the media rarely applies the same level of scrutiny to such comments or personal attacks from figures on the left.

Discussing the recent vacating of the position of the Speaker by all of the Democrats and eight Republicans, Clinton said that Democrats had to groom selected Republicans while treating the rest as sick cultists:

“[S]adly, so many of those extremists, those MAGA extremists take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure. He’s only in it for himself. He’s now defending himself in civil actions and criminal actions. And when do they break with him? Because at some point, you know, maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members, but something needs to happen.”

It appears that the “basket of deplorables” are now a cabal of cultists due to “emotional, psychological needs and desires.”

Amanpour was clearly bemused by the suggestion, but the combination of the two is chilling for those of us concerned about free speech in this age of rage. Many countries have historically treated dissenters as mentally ill or requiring reeducation.

Just got this email from the HSLDA:

We just received news from ICE that the Romeikes are going to be given a one-year stay of deportation on Wednesday. This is excellent news! According to our friends on Capitol Hill, this outcome is the direct result of your calls, your petition signature, and your outreach to Congress on this issue. Now the reality is that until this is signed on Wednesday this is not guaranteed, but we do expect a positive outcome. We are sending our attorney, Kevin Boden, to join the Romeike family while they meet with ICE next week.

According to Kevin, “I spoke personally with the ICE officer in Knoxville, who told me we can anticipate them signing the order of supervision out for another year. And while we are very grateful for this news, we are continuing to advocate for a long-term solution for the Romeike family to allow their permanent stay in the United States.”

As Kevin said, this stay is not a permanent solution. It’s a bandage, but a very important one—and one that could not have happened without your diligent efforts on the Romeikes’ behalf.

The long-term solution is that the Romeikes need to be granted either asylum or permanent residency status. While we still have work to do, we are very grateful for this temporary reprieve. Please continue to support the Romeikes as we move forward. To do that, please go to hslda.org/Romeike.

We will update you as to the result of the Wednesday meeting. Thank you so much for your signature, calls, emails, donations, and prayers.

Thank the Lord a reprieve of one year is on the table. The Romeikes are political and religious refugees. That used to mean a lot under previous Presidential administrations.

Continued prayers are called for that the entire family would receive a favorable permanent outcome.

Thanks for keeping us informed, Stella.
