Leaves
by Elsie N. Brady
How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.
What a charming, sweet poem “Leaves” is. Thanks, Stella!

You’re eye for the wonderous never ceases to amaze me Lucille. Thank you for sharing…
The leaves here are still green but my Stella d’Oro day lily is showing the last of it’s blossoms, and evening temperatures are falling into the 40’s and 50’s so I expect the leaves to start falling in a couple of weeks.

Thank you, litenmaus, for the kind words. Lots to select from in God’s wonderful creation.
Stella d’oro day lilies are such a beautiful yellow-gold….
Whoever lives here certainly loves them….

And another one, this time in the wild….
Another spotless giraffe has been discovered — this time, on a reserve in Namibia

Thanks, Lucille. That’s some pretty fancy stuff. Do I have to stick my pinky finger out when I drink it? 😉

Today starts the First Annual New Orleans Coffee Festival. About time! New Orleans was the largest port for coffee importation for many years, and has several longtime local roasters.

Good morning all! Another cool fall day (sorry Tex.) Hope you all have fine weather and enjoy the day.

Thank you kindly, Miss Stella. Yesterday was a good one. It never got about 85* all day, AND………..it almost rained! We may get some rain over the next few days. If you see any rain in TX, we need it anywhere we can get it right now. The entire state is dry!

Got 3/10ths yesterday in about 6 minutes, but area is still in drought conditions and under no burning warnings because it has only received half the usual rain this year.

Oddly, we have had just about the right amount of rain. Enough that the grass never needed watering. Not that I ever water. I’m not a lawn lover.

Humphrey (I cheated!).
What a darling baby!!

Yes, that’s Humphrey. He came from a wealthy family…father a doctor, mother the well-known artist/illustrator Maud Humphrey. She used him as her model when she created a baby food brand label at the beginning of the 20th century. Don’t remember the brand but it wasn’t the Gerber baby.
In his films you don’t notice how slim he was because he was paired with other actors who were of similar height and weight. He was 5’8″.

This is also the kickoff to fall through winter into spring festival season here. Obviously the best ones happen when it is not 90* and above! And October-December tend to not get rained out.

This is just about the most dystopian, 1984ish shiite I’ve read in a long time. Ontario school pulls every book from its library that was written prior to 2008. You read that right, 2008. Now, even their gubmint suggests that’s a bit of an overreach, but they haven’t put the books back yet. Unbelievable, if true.

Makes you appreciate the insight of George Orwell even more, dunn it?

Crazy how prescient Orwell was. Sorta like The Babylon Bee, just 70 years earlier.

Mornin’ All. About 50* and very comfortable here right now. The sky is perfectly clear and blue. I think the leaves are just getting started turning. They aren’t actually yellow yet but there are a few with a little yellow on them.
They are getting closer to my building with the jackhammers. I think it might be possible that they don’t actually get here until next week. I doubt they will work on Sat. But, the closer they get, the louder they are. 🙄
Hope there are no jackhammers in your life today. 🙂

Perhaps you and Loki could go on a couple of day trips to escape the noise!

That is sort of my plan. I figured I would go to my son’s house for one. I could go shopping or to the library, except I will have Loki with me. I can take her in Home Depot. Guess I could go there.

Who says homelessness doesn’t pay? In Denver, they’ve got a speakeasy and a brothel. Some enterprising young man is probably making a fortune. 😀 😀 😀
