Song for Autumn
By Mary Oliver
Don’t you imagine the leaves dream now
how comfortable it will be to touch
the earth instead of the
nothingness of the air and the endless
freshets of wind? And don’t you think
the trees, especially those with
mossy hollows, are beginning to look for
the birds that will come—six, a dozen—to sleep
inside their bodies? And don’t you hear
the goldenrod whispering goodbye,
the everlasting being crowned with the first
tuffets of snow? The pond
stiffens and the white field over which
the fox runs so quickly brings out
its long blue shadows. The wind wags
its many tails. And in the evening
the piled firewood shifts a little,
longing to be on its way.

Coffee’s up! Grab a cup!

Good afternoon, aus! Me, too! Travis Doodles is my favorite. I subscribe to four or five of those type channels. It’s so heartening to see that folks are picking up the pieces of their lives and moving into better places spiritually and physically, also.
The friend of the man who has cancer went into a tailspin after the death of his wife and ended up losing everything he owned. When Travis started helping him plus giving him encouragement and respect, it was just that extra push he needed to start him on his comeback road.

Thank you, Lucille,
I like the fact that these are not “one and done” episodes. There’s a lot of heart, background work and attention to the specific needs of those he helps by Travis.
He’s a good role model.

Good afternoon, Reflection! Yes, he’s definitely a good role model. Travis’s concern is very often shown in his prayers for the individuals, the specific words of which we aren’t privy to so as to preserve confidentiality. I really appreciate that aspect.
It would be wonderful if the various churches could start similar one-on-one outreach endeavors. Church soup kitchens and food banks are excellent. However, helping one or two individuals week after week brings great spiritual rewards to all concerned. Keeping the Lord in the equation and showing folks His love blesses everyone.

Good day, Miz Wee! The proponents of “shall not be infringed” better stay vigilant. For Dems to come out against a policy of one of their own is super rare. What’s afoot? It ain’t ’cause they love the Constitution.

I am beginning to get the feeling that the Dems are not all aware of what their party is actually planning on doing. I think some of them are just starting to pay attention.

I have really awful ones – I blame my mother’s home perms!

Good afternoon, Stella! You got those perms, too! LOL! My first grade photo had me looking like Shirley Temple. My sister had one of the all-time cutest first grade photos. Ours were all black and white right up through 12th grade. Graduation photos were hand-colored.

I married the first red head I dated! Yessireebob, A real fire-breather too! Oh those were the days my friend, I thought they’d never end… Our class pics were B&W and the girls had to wear a dress or skirt! No bluejeans permitted or sneakers!

The style back then for guys was a “Gant” shirt and a barracuda jacket. That jacket sure was cold in Winter! But I was “in style!”

I hated my first grade photo. My mother braided my long blond hair and wrapped it across the top of my head, which she did regularly. When I saw the photo I thought I looked like a boy and I was mortified.

Before the home perms, my mother did my hair in rags to make banana curls, with bangs! That was much cuter than the perms, though.

And one with a bad perm (not the worst one though):

Awww, Stella…and a drum majorette costume, too, looks like. Just darling!
Old photos are such fun. Even if the people aren’t known to me personally, I could spend hours watching family slide shows.

We’ve talked about Hair-Gel running, we’ve talked about the Wookie running, but this is a truly terrifying thought exercise here. Could the Biden’s be setting it up for “Dr.” Jill to fill Brain-Freeze’s spot next year. Now is the time to think outside the box for whatever they might throw at us.

Afternoon All. Had trouble getting to sleep last night so got up really late. It is a little cool out but very sunny. Perfect weather. I don’t see any leaves turning here in the apt. complex, but I am sure it won’t be long. Perfectly blue clear sky overhead.
They started working on the concrete at the other end of the buildings so I can just barely hear it. I think it is possible that it won’t be as bad as I thought it was going to be since I have seen how they are pulling out the old concrete. I thought they would jackhammer the whole pieces, but they just chop up a corner and then lift it out with a big machine.
Well, not much going on. I finally got the closet in the extra room rearranged and am working on making myself throw out everything that I can.
Hope you all are fine and having good weather.

Evening all. Thank you Stella for sharing Stella’s Place. The poetry has been divine.
