    Stellars….

Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
    ~ William Shakespeare

It is the glistening autumnal side of summer. I feel a cool vein in the breeze, which braces my thoughts, and I pass with pleasure over sheltered and sunny portions of the sand where the summer’s heat is undiminished, and I realize what a friend I am losing.
    ~ Henry David Thoreau

Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night.
    ~ Hal Borland

Yes. I used to tease my husband (Minnesota farm boy) with this thought, “Sure, it’s great that the topsoil here in Minnesota is richer than anything I’ve ever seen, but that’s sort of offset by the fact that the growing season is only four days long.”

Early frosts in west central rural Minnesota, where we lived for 18 years, could be expected any time after mid-September. From that date until the end of March, it was anybody’s guess. I always felt a kind of dread going into my favorite (FALL!) season because I knew where it was going.

I was northern Montana born and bred, so it wasn’t that I didn’t understand or that it was new to me. It was because I did understand, and it was not new to me.

I’m good with living in the Pacific Northwest now–where the temps in excess of 110(f) never last more than 4-5 days (that was in 2022); they call it a “heat wave” the minute highs are over 90 degrees (even for 2 days–I try not to roll my eyes), and they consider it a threat to life (for everyone) if the highs in winter are less than 35 degrees. I try to keep my mouth shut and deeply appreciate that the ground doesn’t freeze 10-15 inches down; it’s never 30 below; and, I don’t have to plug the car in.

I could have gotten along without the ice storm two years ago in February–totally destroyed several very huge, beautiful, and old trees in my large yard. We were without power for 10-14 days. By burning a big fire in the fireplace every day all day, I was able to keep the house temp at about 45-47 degrees, and had a hot bowl of soup at my picnic table every day for lunch, courtesy of my charcoal burner. It was survivable and all good.

Much of what happens in the far north during fall/winter months is not necessarily survivable and I’m grateful not to be facing those possibilities every year. Every year I do follow the NOAA graphical weather forcasts and watch the low-temp map colors take over first this area and then that. There’s a whole life style (based on experience, broad knowledge, and good equipment) that goes into managing that without letting it take over a person’s life.

Good day, weather! That’s one of the things I miss about California…very mild winters. If you’re blessed to live by or near the Pacific Ocean, summers are heavenly.

Good morning, Czarina! Knate is such a sweetheart, too, and just an everyday working bloke. I’m pretty sure they all live in northern Nevada, probably Reno.

Knate and his girlfriend make up backpacks for homeless women and men with appropriate essentials for each. He carries them around in his car to hand out when he sees the need.

In one of his other recent vids he was helping a guy out and took him to Walmart to get clothes and food. The fellow said to him that most people wouldn’t allow him in their cars. And Knate responded encouragingly that the guy was just the same as anyone else.

I may have told this story before, but when I worked in Santa Monica, CA our office building was across a 4-lane street from Palisades Park. Below the palisades was the Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean. The park was often full of homeless of all ages; so people were used to seeing humans lying around the streets.

Leaving my office one evening, I tripped and fell hard on the sidewalk and was quite stunned. I lay there for a couple minutes. People passed me by and didn’t even give me a look. Finally a disheveled young man ran across Ocean Boulevard to come to my assistance. He was obviously one of the homeless but he was more kind to an elderly lady than the well-dressed folk who simply let me lay there. He walked with me to the corner just to make sure I was OK.

Just now I was looking online at photos of Santa Monica and noticed that Ocean is an “Avenue” and not a “Boulevard.” I’ve been there countless thousands of times during the years 1963-2008. The ole brain sparks ain’t connecting so well anymore apparently.

Here’s an amateur but still fun video of the area as it looked five years after the last time I saw it (I’m feeling nostalgic today and just may go on a crying jag). My building is shown for a second at 4:10. There are only a couple of homeless shown. Santa Monica is a thoroughly leftist town, but they must have decided they’d had enough of folks ruining their tourist attractions.

Some big political news in these parts. the Harris County (HOU) County Judge has stepped down from her elected position. She’s 33 and having “mental health” issues. Probably the stress of wondering when her indictment is coming. Three staffers have been indicted for bid-rigging, and assorted shenanigans. For those unfamiliar, in TX, a County Judge is not a bench-sitting judge, but is over that County’s Commissioners Court. Most powerful spot in the County. Her tenure has been quite contentious, as this spot was held by R’s for the prior30-40 years prior to her “election”. Could be popcorn time.

Miss Wee……….you might want to stay out of this tiny Texas town. Just outside of Tyler, Texas, Coffee City, TX has 250 residents………….and 50 popo! According to this story, they raked in over $1,000,000 in “traffic fees” last year. That’s a bunch!!

Mornin’ All. It was 50* and very pleasant when I got up. The sky is clear and blue. Beautiful day. Honestly, I never expected to have weather like this up here. And, so much of it.

Don’t know what I will do this weekend, maybe get some things done. LOL

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

NATIONAL TEDDY BEAR DAY! Tucked away in a closet box somewhere is my 78-year-old light brown Teddy bear. He’s quite beat up but it’s the last of my childhood toys to make it through the many donation-to-charity drives.

Not positive, but I’m pretty sure Teddy was a gift during World War II from my mother’s unmarried brother who was stationed in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy. No matter what was happening in wartime, he always made sure that his family, including my sister and I plus my two cousins, got gifts at Christmas.

Any bets on how long the “Public Health Emergency” lasts in NM? Dry run #2, folks. The corona was #1. Lot’s of chatter that this is being coordinated with the Stasi in DC. Wouldn’t surprise me. This lady isn’t the sharpest rock in the toy box.

Good afternoon, Texan! When the food riots start, you can be sure the only ones arrested will be citizens on our side, just like J6.

The fascist left wants as many of us as possible gone forever. And their timeframe is short. They MUST get everything done before Tuesday, November 5, 2024 just in case they can’t cheat and steal enough to fraudulently win the Presidency again.

The pushback in NM has begun. Lawsuits are in motion and some surprises as far as who isn’t going to enforce her stoopidity. One of them is the ABQ DA. He says no go.
