Speaking of Chile, in the 1970s one of my co-workers was married to a man who had been a military advisor to President Allende of Chile. Allende was a duly-elected socialist and was overthrown in the early 70s by an Army general named Pinochet who subsequently ruled as a dictator for many years. Out of the frying pan into the fire, as they say; and the U.S. (under Nixon) was apparently complicit in Allende’s overthrow.

Afternoon All. Warm, but not miserable outside today. There are some floaty clouds here and there. I think it is a little more humid than it has been, though.
The birthday party turned out great yesterday. One of the grandpas has sent a trampoline, the kind with the high sides on it and the springs covered. Pretty safe. The kids had a ball in it. So did some of the oldest “kids”, too. And, my son and DIL had just gotten a really nice swimming pool. Her brother had bought one and they thought it was nice, but too expensive. Then they found out it was under $60. I couldn’t believe it. Anyway, the kids ran from the pool to the trampoline and back, over and over. The dresses were a hit, so it was worth the effort.
Of course, I got a sunburn even though I was never in the sun. I don’t know how I can get burned sitting it deep shade. Of course, the antibiotic I took caused that.
I hear some of the weather in the south and other places is pretty ugly. Hope you can all have a nice day anyway.

Good day, aus! We’re at 78 right now with a slight breeze…just enough sway to make an overgrown bush right across the walk from my front door look like it’s floating on the wind. High will be 82. Must be lovely on the lakes in a pretty sailboat.

More about Instacart. Ordered again today, and order was wrong, again. I didn’t receive one item, and received four items that I didn’t order. I reported. THEN I received an email from Instacart:
We’re reviewing your account based on an unusually high number of order issue reports… If we find any violations, your account may be restricted from receiving future refunds, credits, and redeliveries.
Guess what? My annual membership was up for renewal on August 7. I changed the renewal to a monthly one, for the moment anyway. I am looking into alternate resources (of which there are many) and plan to cancel Instacart completely.
The problem is that they are having their shoppers shop multiple orders at once, the shoppers aren’t properly trained, and they make lots of mistakes. This is not my problem, but theirs.
