Good day to you, Stella. We’ll have a high of a very doable 86 degrees today. Smells nice and fresh outside.

Nice pics Lucille! A mean looking t6hunderhead up top. Glad those cumulonimbus wall clouds aren’t common here in Pa!

Love me some lakes, Pa. Wish I were vacationing at one right now.

Morning y’all. Wish I could head north for a few days. I hope those of you who live in these areas get some beautiful viewing. Share pics!
There are 16 states on the list.

Mornin’ Menage! I imagine we are too far south and close to the city to see anything.

Good day, Menagerie. Beautiful images of the aurora borealis.
Here’s an article from NASA that your grandsons might enjoy on both the auroras, north and south. If you have a good printer you may be able to blow it up so they can have their own copies…

I read where Portland [I think] narrowly defeated a bill that would allow homeless to camp on anyone’s lawn and penalize anyone who tried to prevent them.🤔

Sheesh! Who even thought this was a good idea?
LikeLike
Yes, that’s true. It got without about two days of going for the vote when the word got out and normal Americans who live in Oregon flooding the capitol and they decided maybe that wasn’t such a good idea. There was a $1200 fine attached to each violation of that “camper’s rights”, as I recall.
And now–the story continues–there is this!
https://www.koin.com/news/portland/portlands-camping-ban-begins-friday-but-will-it-change-anything/
Here’s what it boils down to:
1. NO ONE can camp during the daytime on city or residential sidewalks. (This is inconvenient, of course, for the houseles campers, who do most of their sleeping during the day, because it’s not safe to sleep when it’s dark)
2. THIS MEANS that every morning by 8 am, they are required to pack up, take down, cart away, keep with them–all of the accoutrements of their urban backpacking life. That is also very inconvenient.
3. THE HOPE was that this might mean the blocked businesses would be happy.
4. LAST FRIDAY was the day that law went into effect. Absolutely nothing happened. But there’ a reason why:
5. THE AUTHORITIES explained: they understand that enforcement (the police department and fire department will be responsible for making sure everyone packs up their stuff every morning and takes it with them all day, until they can set up again around 8 pm)….enforcement will be gradual.
6. They will use the next several months for education of the long term lawbreakers.
7. Then they announce in advance when enforcement will begin.
8.All of the people involved this are being paid well to do what they are doing.
All of this to demonstrate that they are really serious about not letting the entire (formerly beautiful) center-city of Portland be 100% destroyed. It’s at about 90% destroyed now and they’re gettin’ ready to put their foot down.

“Euthanasia is on the rise in overburdened shelters, particularly for dogs. Shelter Animals Count is a national database stating that non-live outcomes for dogs nearly doubled this year compared to 2021.”
It’s our language that is being euthanized. “Non-live outcomes….” really?

Malala Day – remember the Pakistani girl who just wanted an education, and a Taliban man shot her I the head? She’s studying at Oxford now.
National Pecan Pie Day – I’m definitely going to do this one
Eat your Jello Day – maybe
National Simplicity Day – how do you do this without complicating your life?
National Different Colored Eyes Day – my brother has a cat with one yellow eye and one blue. The Brits call this Odd Eyed.
Paper Bag Day – I do like paper better than plastic…

A quote from Malala: I am convinced Socialism is the only answer and I urge all comrades to take this struggle to a victorious conclusion. Only this will free us from the chains of bigotry and exploitation. —Yousafzai expressing her belief in socialism in a letter to a meeting of Pakistani Marxists in Lahore[125] Wikipedia
LUV pecan pie and jello but unfortunately both are on the no-go list for CKD.
Is using Simplicity patterns to make my clothes in high school close enough?
National Different Colored Eyes Day: a form of “heterochromia” with blue outer iris and yellow next to the pupil runs in my family. Mom and I got chosen. Only one boyfriend, my darling Arnie, ever noticed! LOL!
Well-made paper shopping bags with handles can last a very long time. Bullock’s, The Broadway, May Company, and Robinson’s department stores plus Barker Bros. (furniture/household goods) in Los Angeles during the 1960s-70s all had excellent quality bags. Ah, the good ole days! It was such great fun to shop in those days.

When I lived in McKeesport, Pa, there was a grocery store right by the train station and close to the major bus stops at the end/beginning of their runs. They had heavy duty large bags with a cord handle, they were really built strong. Popular among the older crowd. We would often see this with a bag in each hand.On a lighter note, we always referred to them as Polish matched luggage, All the ethnic nations were well represented there in S.W. Pa. The store name was Balsamo’s LOL! Wish I would’ve saved a few for posterity. This was in the ’50’s and 60’s.

Afternoon. Hope you all had a nice day. I went to Bible Study and then picked up a new cell phone. I have been wanting one for a long time and my battery is dying on my old one. The one I wanted went on sale for $50 at Best Buy yesterday so I bought one. It is an Android so now I have to learn how to use it. Already I can’t figure out how to get my emails on it. I have a User Guide, so that might help,

Good luck. I have an Android, but it is old, and I need to upgrade. Mine is a Samsung. What did you get?

I have had an Android, LG I think. I’ve had the same phone for several years and dread when it gets outdated or finally quits, because I will have to learn to use one with different buttons, rules and features. I’m a great creature of habit for technology.

Well, I had a flip phone that I loved, but when the battery started dying, I opted to get the newer one. I hated the newer one, but felt stuck with it until the battery started going. It was just different. They had changed too many things and it wasn’t as simple. I am sensing this Android may work out.

Looks like the Spanish Environmental Minister is a combo of our Mayor Pete and Lurch when it comes to photo ops, bicycles, and private planes. They are all phonies!
