Sailors assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) practice for the San Diego Padres’ opening day flag ceremony. The ship sent nearly 300 volunteers to unfurl an 800-pound flag that covered the entire field.

      We are in a pattern of moisture coming out of the western Gulf of Mexico, with lots of possibilities for rain during the next week. At least it cuts the heat here, so we stay in the 90’s not over 100*.

    Two foods and a little fun:

    National Hand Roll Day – they mean Sushi. I know, and I’m not advocating the raw fish kind. I like the ones made with cooked fish, fake crab, veggies, and even brown rice. Grocery stores now have displays of it. Does make a nice cold lunch.

    National Fried Chicken Day – I expected this in he middle of the summer. Good placement. Needs potato salad.

    International Kissing Day – good for everyone.

    I’ve been a part of online rage mobs against things I had no interest in or knowledge of. When I was young and stupid, I was young and stupid and I did all the things young and stupid people engaged in. Unlike the current crop of “hate everything” trolls on the Internet, however, I grew up. In not growing up there’s attention and what passes for power in the ability to declare something to be important, cool, awful or any number of things from a place of complete ignorance. Such seems to be the case in the attacks on the movie “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”

    Afternoon all. A cool night and warming up fast with a clear blue sky with a few floaty clouds. Nice day. I’m starting to collect boxes to pack. My neighbor works at a warehouse and she says she can get me all kinds of good strong boxes. So, I guess I am going to have enough to make a move without buying any. I am already packing up things I don’t need to use. Hopefully this move will be easier than the one coming up here. 😯

    The article covered former President Donald Trump’s rally in Pickens, South Carolina, on Saturday, which, according to the police chief of the town, drew a crowd of over 50,000 Trump supporters to the tiny town.
