A river in Colombia turns different shades of colour in a natural display that happens nowhere else on Earth.
Just east of the Andes, central Colombia’s Caño Cristales is a river like no other. Reaching 100km long and sometimes called the “Liquid Rainbow”, Caño Cristales runs during certain months of the year with shades of red, blue, yellow, orange and green.

The narrator stated it was previously considered dangerous but never says why. My first thought was the minerals in the water are bad for people. Then it occurred to me crime might be a problem, solved by having lots of tourists and security guards…

Good day, czarina! Could well be both of your suggestions, especially crime since Colombia was once a drug capital and possibly the cartels used it as a hideaway. Also, there is the strange topography–holes with waterfalls all over the place, some shallow and some deep.

Started off with rain at 6:30, but now intermittently sunny. Might rain again later. This is called the “summer pattern” by the meteorologists. Humidity is at sticky, one level above muggy. (Bows slightly) you’re welcome.

Clear and 50° here! The lilacs are just starting to bloom, and my neighbor’s crabapple tree is blooming too. It hangs over the fence into my yard. Smells really nice out there!

Our crabapple bloomed a couple of months ago. It had so many bees enjoying the flowers the air just buzzed under it. A joy every year!
