Tucker Carlson leaving Fox News

I didn’t want to include even one word from the NYT or WaPo, so I am including a report from the BBC. I wonder if this was Tucker’s decision, or a decision by Fox. This follows closely upon the departure of Dan Bongino from Fox.

BBC:

One of the highest rated US TV hosts, Tucker Carlson, is leaving Fox News, the US media giant has announced.

In a statement, Fox News said that the network and Mr Carlson have agreed to “part ways”.

His last TV programme was Friday 21 April, the statement added. His primetime slot will now be hosted by a series of interim hosts until a permanent replacement is found.

The brief two paragraph statement gave no reason for the decision.

On air, a Fox News anchor announced the departure with a tribute that thanked him “for his service to the network”.

Mr Carlson was not just a popular presenter, but also a historically influential one. His shows frequently set the agenda for conservatives and, by extension, the Republican Party.

His programme made up four of the top ten rated programmes on US cable TV, according to Nielson data for the week 27 March to 2 April.

He was Fox News’ top rated host, with more than three million viewers tuning in on an average night.

This announcement indicates he was fired. If he was the one severing ties, he would have announced it on air with explanation, no? I don’t watch TV for this very reason. I’m sure he will land feet first and running like Hell! Go Tucker!

I think this is going to be like Bud Lite. Highly educated and powerful people very often have tunnel vision. This is going to bite them in the butt, and I’m not talking about loss of revenue, market share, or stock prices. I’m with catturd on this one. They may have unleashed a beast they should have tried to keep as contained as they could.

Most likely they did try to contain him, but who can contain someone who’s seen the light and has the character Tucker has? Surely there was a moving force; but it was time. He’s set up at his cabin already so won’t be inconvenienced too much by the transition except perhaps lacking the access his Fox creditentials provided. God bless him (He has already blessed him).

I saw the end of his show from Friday. He said he’d be back on Monday. This isn’t just Fox. It’s power brokers in government, big pharma, media, you name it. Our Politburo is making moves.
