Enduring mystery: Do these photos show the iceberg that sank the Titanic?

And my favorite thing that happened on April 14th….
1964 – Sandy Koufax, L. A. Dodgers, pitches his 9th complete game (4-0) without allowing a walk, Opening Day vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Sandy’s rookie year with the Brooklyn Dodgers was 1955. His pitching was all over the place, no control, and it’s a miracle he wasn’t let go. He was taken in hand by one of the catchers and began finessing his throws and not trying to throw so hard. By 1964 his career at the top was in full swing (pun intended). The 1964 Opening Day was the only opening game he ever pitched.

The following baseball card doesn’t say it’s from his rookie year. But if it is, he was 19. What a baby!

Ladies, would you have had a crush on him? I certainly did.

My older sister had a Sandy Koufax doll. Her ear was glued to a little transistor radio all season long…loved the Dodgers.
        Thanks for the memories, Lucille!

I was a New York Yankees fan until the spring of 1958 when the Los Angeles Dodgers began their first season in L.A. My parents were big baseball fans and immediately became devoted to the Dodgers. We used to joke that the Dodgers should give them permanent season passes because they never attended a game that the Dodgers lost. For my Dad’s 75th birthday in 1980, I gave him tickets for the game and secretly arranged for the Dodgers to wish him a happy birthday by putting his name and congratulations on the centerfield sign.

While a senior in high school my favorite Dodger was Chuck Essegian, a left fielder and the hero of one of the 1959 World Series games against the Chicago White Sox. The Dodgers eventually won the series and Chuck found himself in the baseball history books.

Unfortunately, he was traded in 1960 and I moved on to another handsome brunette named Sanford Koufax.

After moving to L.A. in 1963 I met a young woman who had a younger brother that was a MLB star and I got invited to lots of parties when his team played in southern California. I tried every which way to get invited to gatherings where Sandy had also been invited, but I never got to meet him personally. C’est la vie!

      From the AccuWeather article:
“Still, the most popular photo of an iceberg said to be the one that sank the Titanic is a black-and-white picture taken by the captain of another passenger ship crossing the Atlantic, less than two days before the Titanic went down.”
This link shows the picture he took (don’t know whether it will preview here):

Mornin’ All. It is 37* and only slightly overcast, but I think that will clear off here pretty quickly. It was supposed to rain yesterday evening, but when I put Loki out to go potty it looked like snow to me. And, it was. It was just a light layer, but a definite one.

I am better, but not ready to clean house yet.

    Take care.

Good afternoon, aus! Good news that you’re feeling better and that Loki is being a good, cooperative girl. Our weather is sunny but a tad cloudy at 47 degrees with a bit of rain expected.

Know what you mean re cleaning house. It’s mainly the standing up to vacuum for me. My feet are wrecked and sitting down on benches, the couch and various chairs to vacuum is not productive enough. Hopefully next month I can start having a cleaning lady come in every week if the finances can be worked out.

I hope you can because it can make a big difference. I had one for a while when I was having trouble with my legs. It always felt so good to have the apt cleaned.

(Note from Lucille: video is subscription only. It’s very short and we get a screen shot of the Chinese baby boy’s passport. The invasion continues with the blessing of Biden et al. traitors.)

MUST SEE and SHARE: Chinese Using Anchor Babies —
    14 April 2023
    Darien, Panama

Just made this video at San Vicente camp. Many of the Chinese are obvious spies and/or paramilitary. Others seem to be making honest alien invasion. They have anchor babies on US territories. Get US passport for anchor babies. Then use the baby or child with US passport as border pass. They do not fly in because harder to get on the flight for the non-US “parents.” (Is this their child? How can we know without DNA?)

    Please share widely.

And thank you for your support. Destroying America is big business. Saving America is frontline work.

I don’t know any “good kids” that leave the house with a loaded gun headed for a former employer’s place (like a bank), ready to shoot it up ‘n stuff.

Maybe I just don’t get out enough.

Exactly. If she’d had a clue re signs of mental illness, perhaps he would have gotten proper help many years ago. Of course parenting is difficult and parents aren’t technically responsible for crimes of their offspring. But as for her calling him a kid, he’s NOT. He’s a 25 year old man (some articles say 23). Is she stuck in a timewarp?

        • auscitizenmom says:

Unfortunately a lot of what we are seeing going on now is because of a lack of parenting for the last 40 or 50 years by too many segments of. society.

A heads-up for parents of any former athlete with physical brain damage…looks like they can be capable of anything.

      From the article:
Connor’s parents revealed that he had struggled with “mental health challenges,” but stated that “there were never any warning signs or indications he was capable of this shocking act.”

    Chinese Baby in Jungle…without Milk
    14 April 2023
    Darien Gap, Panama

We just got in from long day in Darien Gap jungle. One Chinese man ran up to me — he spoke some English — and needed milk for his 13-month-old baby. His wife had no milk after two days walking in jungle. So I started asking Embera Indians for milk in a remote village called Canaan Membrillo. Then my friend Matt got the idea of asking an Embera Indian woman for some fresh breast milk. We had seen an Embera woman with a baby and so we found her and asked if she has a spare tit. She said she would be happy but recently stopped nursing and was dry. She pointed to another hut but nobody was there. So we started going through the village looking for an Indian woman with milk. One Embera Indian man was put off with the idea of loaning his wife to the Chinese baby but he found some dusty cans of milk in the village. Tonight the baby has canned milk in the jungle. We just got out. The jungle is filled with Chinese marching to America.

How Many Military-Aged Chinese Males do you see here?
The long line is mostly Chinese. Now about 200 Chinese per day appear to be leaving Colombia to Panama, according to Chuck Holton who is now in Colombia.

Currently about 1,200 total migrants per day are crossing into Panama and heading north to America. US government just indicated it will shut down the Darien Gap flow. This is a lie.
