    Happy Monday!

I am far from a typical feminist, but I do think it can be hard to find stories of women throughout history who made great contributions. I have a book my grandfather wrote for our family, and the story of his mother on the Kansas plains, as a widow with a number of young children, has always inspired me.

As a young girl, I realized that the world wasn’t settled and society wasn’t built so much by those we read about in the history books, but by those whose stories we know from our grandparents.

Here’s one such woman. I got curious about her after watching a show about her on INSP. She’s buried in St. Louis, Oregon. What a life she lived. Her amazing strength of will and character impress me.

This is our heritage, Americans. People like this are what made us.

Imagine WALKING all over the west! I can’t imagine even finding my way, much less telling someone else where to find my children buried in the snow.

Women have always carried the weight of families’ and communities’ needs, and their efforts have been minimized. Finally there is recognition in the media (but the transgender lies are taking accomplishments away and giving recognition to men again).

Exactly the same thoughts I had watching the show. How did she even know where she walked. Also, her husband, the father of those little boys and the baby who died, was a drunkard. So, she was always mostly alone in caring for her family, he was just another responsibility to her.

Love reading those stories (histories). Did you ever read “Follow The River” about a young woman who was kidnapped by Indians then journeyed back by foot to her home? Well written and pretty inspiring!

    Amen.

    On a lighter note,
” In the old days, all men had to do was hunt and fish. Our women took care of everything else……..then the white man arrived, and screwed that all up.

Mornin’ All. It is 53*, grey overcast, and humid here this morning. It is actually not unpleasant.

I am still tired from the weekend. I spent Sat. making deviled eggs, scalloped potatoes and muffins for Sunday. And, then got up about 6:15 to go to the 8:00 service. I took the muffins for the breakfast at the church. Nobody took any and I am so grateful because they are terrible. I don’t know what I did wrong, but it was something for sure.

Then I went to my kids house for lunch. They had been sick with a stomach virus but were now over it. I decided to take the chance. Hopefully I will be all right. The same thing happened at Christmas. They had invited a lot of people for lunch and everybody cancelled because of illness. We had a good time anyway.

Hope you all had a nice Easter weekend.

Biden Regulation Could Deny Christians, Conservatives Government Employment: Critics
    By Ben Johnson – April 8, 2023

The Biden administration has proposed new federal guidelines that would politicize the civil service and potentially bar Christians and others who hold disfavored opinions from government employment. Critics say the president’s proposal essentially states, “Conservatives need not apply.”
