Trees
by Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Wow – what a beautiful photo, Stella! It’s amazing how much nature can cram into one corner of the forest. Just beautiful.

Older than Highclere Castle and twice as notorious, Powderham Castle remains one of the hidden jewels of Britain’s great country estates.

Isn’t it amazing to see how far this Country has fallen when THIS is leading our Country. We all know why he’s there, and that he’s literally an empty vessel, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out why his handlers think they’re gonna get special treatment when China knocks on our door, or rattles our cage, and the guy behind the door thinks it’s a knock-knock joke. What a clown. So sad.

Mornin’ all ya’all! Grey again, huge blob of rain coming in a few minutes. Had 40 minutes of hard rain and thunderstorm around midnight.

Thunderstorms? Yeah, they are exciting. Czar and I would sit by the glass doors and watch from the safety of inside.

Yes, I like to enjoy them from inside, too.

Today is “Respect Your Cat Day”. Short of making a special trip to the fish store, I’m flummoxed as to how I could possibly make their day better!

In reality, a society that would actually give cats the respect they deserve would exist at a higher level than any other on earth.

Don’t the Japanese really love cats?

My MIL was Japanese, and you’ll never find someone better at her job as wife, mother and homemaker. All in a foreign language and country; she put on an American Thanksgiving dinner more perfect than most I’ve ever known. Made it look easy too…her composure was incomparable, and her home and family were always well-presented.

Well, you could bring a bunch of squirrels into the house for them to play with.

Morning everyone. Stella, that picture really could have been made in our woods at the cabin. I have springtime pictures that look just like that, any direction you wanted to face. I spent many hours on the porch swing enjoying the view in the spring. And summer, and fall, and yes, even some in winter.

I had the occasion once to visit an office we had in Charlotte, NC in the spring. The office park was beautiful, with a large wooded area. I remember how lovely the woods were, with an understory of flowering dogwood. Really beautiful.
Good morning!

Mornin’ All. It is somewhat overcast right now at 25*. Today is tax day for me. I am always glad to get this done. I hope I don’t have to pay much state tax. I have never had to do that before back as far as I can remember.
Hope you all can stay safe in these storms that are coming.

I hope you get good news on your taxes. Here in Michigan I get more back than I paid in income tax, because of the homestead credit, which reimburses some of my property tax.

In Michigan you get a property tax credit even if you rent.

The lady I talked to told me to be able to tell them what my rent is, so there may be something like that here.

Good thing I wasn’t there, ’cause I’m shaking just watching the video, and just might not have been as polite as our congresspeople. No doubt in my mind the ATF came to intimidate store owners and customers. I’d wager every single agent in this RAID is a Democrat. Dang, I’m mad!
WATCH: SIXTEEN Out-of-State ATF Agents Visit and Intimidate Popular Gun Store in Smyrna, GA on Same Day as Nashville School Shooting, Get Scared Off by GOP Congressmembers!

Coincidentally (or not), this happened on the same morning of a school shooting by a transgender who kept a manifesto and mapped out his plan in Nashville, TN. The Biden White House on Monday afternoon called for Republican lawmakers to back a ban on so-called ‘assault weapons’ following the Nashville school shooting.
