Afternoon All. It is in the 20’s here and a little breezy. It is funny that it feels cooler than normal inside even thought the temp is exactly the same as it has been. I’ve got everything ready to go to the laundromat except for the sheets off my bed which I will pull off now and bag up to go. So, before I get a streak of lazy, I had better get moving. I hate going to the laundromat.

Pretty day, off and on sun, 70’s, breezy. No complaints. Got a load of dog rugs and such washed and died on the line. Making red beans for dinner.

My BIL ended up in hospital the other night; his heart stopped, and it took the ER personnel 15 minutes to get it going again. He had a heart attack 30 years ago and has had several procedures; but the doctor said the cause this time was ‘walking pneumonia.’ No symptoms, and apparently a lot of older folks get it (he’s late 60’s) . They loaded him up with antibiotics for a few days and this morning installed a pacemaker. Wonder if he’ll quit smoking/drinking and start to exercise now.

Was just thinking about my sister. She died on St. Patrick’s day 34 years ago of emphysema, just past her 60th birthday. She could never quit smoking, but because of her death, I quit smoking three days later, and haven’t had a cigarette since then. I think she saved my life!

Last week the Senate Democrat majority was hospitalized with Senator John Fetterman dispatched to a psych ward and Senator Dianne Feinstein, who doesn’t seem to know where she is, hospitalized for shingles. Fetterman and Feinstein didn’t let being hospitalized slow them down and went right on co-sponsoring bills even though the former had to be hospitalized because he couldn’t take care of himself and the latter no longer recognized colleagues.

Dementia, psychiatric illness, inability to feed or water oneself–none of these prevent a person from being in a place of significant authority. I think the same people are running America who have been running it for a long time. Recent event just become another illustration of where we have arrived.

I finally got my laundry done. It is so expensive, it cost me $32. By now I could have paid for a washer/dryer at this rate. I was so tired by the time I got home and then had to fold and hang everything up and put the sheets back on the bed. It is so much easier to do it all a little at a time like I have been used to.
I heard a big thump on my window just a little while ago. It was the parrot from upstairs. He is all right and his mommie came down to get him from out of the little tree he was sitting in. She apologized to me about the window, but it wasn’t broken. I just worried he was hurt. But, she called him and he went right to her and landed on her shoulder. She said he got upset about something.
