American artist Grant Wood was born near Anamosa, Iowa on February 13, 1892. Wood is best known for his painting American Gothic featuring a farmer and his spinster daughter. It is the Gothic-style house (in Eldon, IA) that inspired the painting’s title. The figures were modeled by Wood’s sister Nan Wood Graham and their dentist Dr. Byron McKeeby.

I’m pretty sure the Sofia photo had no notation that it was hotlinked. I beg pardon to whoever in the EU owns it. If the notice doesn’t disappear, you can just click on it and the photo will pop up.
Here’s a map of the Balkan states….

I gave up on that a long time ago, weather. Also on ever being to use my bell in the upper right corner to see any responses to my comments. Just have to try to remember which of Stella’s posts that I commented on and go back later and look–which at my age is getting a bunch harder!

A new wrinkle at the pharmacy–I called in a very simple, maintenance/style refill this morning. There is a new computerized voice to talk with, so I did. Went pretty well, until the voice said, “Your prescription will be ready for pickup on Sunday, February 19, after 4 pm. Will that time work for you?” I responded bluntly, “No”, wondering how the voice would handle that.
The voice then said, “How about tomorrow, after 4 pm?”
Why, yes. That would be considerably better.
They are constantly looking for ways to stretch the edges. The opposite of the old “inventory in time” idea.
It’s strange to realize how all the changes settle in some kind of cement as they become the norm.
At Safeway the other day, 2% milk was $10/gallon. I wanted to buy a half gallon which was $7.79/thereabouts. Way too much. Then I found quarts of 2% that were $1.79 each and got two of them. I suppose that’s an oversight of some kind!

I have found that I can override the pharmacy “voice” by pressing “0” and speaking to a real human. Btw, we can get delivery (for free!) if we ask.
Prices are out of control, aren’t they? Congratulations on getting your milk at a reasonable price. I just checked, and regular milk is $3.79. a gallon at the store where I shop. Lactaid milk (which I usually buy) is $6.79 a gallon. I wonder why your price is so high.

Afternoon, All. My DIL dropped off two of my granddaughters this morning while she and her oldest had a Dr. visit. We took a walk and got the mail, played on the slide set, played some form of Uno (different rules than I remember), read a book, found a book to look at the pictures, and by then, they were hungry so we had a couple of graham crackers. I need to get coloring books and a few toys.
Another nice day. It sort of sprinkled a little for a while, but it didn’t amount to anything. The weather guessers say it will snow tonight in the wee hours, between 1″ and 6″. Hm. That is a pretty wide range. LOL
Have a nice rest of your day. 🙂
