Occasional diversions are fine. It depends on the content.

A friend of mine in the early 80s was interviewed for one of the quiz shows. Don’t remember which one. All his friends and his wife told him he could win a bundle because he was super-intelligent, formally well-educated, well-read, travelled extensively, spoke/read/wrote lengthily in many languages and was familiar with their cultures. He passed the interview with flying colors.

Came the night he was on the show and we all tuned in. Because he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement re not talking about the episode before it aired, we didn’t know what was coming. So we were surprised that his first question was re rock music and he didn’t have a clue. It turned out he wasn’t interested in popular music at all and off he went. The sponsors did give him consolation prizes, on which he had to pay taxes. He said he had fun, though.

A friend of mine won big on Wheel of Fortune (in the 1990’s?). He turned down most of the non-cash gifts because of the taxes.

Joseph asked if I wanted to buy some of the prizes because he didn’t want to be out any money. I bought a couple of things and paid equal to what the taxes were.

His wife and I laughed over the years about his knowing nothing about rock music. He never bothered to listen and learn either.

Mornin’ All. 22* and somewhat cloudy. Guess I will get my laundry ready to go to the laundromat. Maybe I will go today, maybe not. So much for my plans.

I feel really sorry for that man who is in jail in Arizona for killing an illegal who has been deported 3 or 4 times. I don’t know the story, but I have been expecting something like this. His wife is alone on their ranch and that is what he is worried about. I heard last night that a Go Fun Me was set up for him, but Go Fund Me stopped it. Makes me so mad.

Anyway, have a nice day if you can. The weather down South is looking ugly.

Good day, aus! After reading what info there is about the Arizona man, I’ve concluded that the death of the illegal is likely justified as self-defense. Laws on the AZ books are very pro-self-defense. The prosecutor is probably some leftie trying to get noticed.

I’m hoping/praying that friends, relatives and organizations will come to the couple’s rescue. Animals need to be fed and the property looked after, too.

I haven’t read anything about how he came to shoot the illegal. What I have heard is that the “Judge” is not a lawyer and doesn’t know the law and is also a Democrat.

Good afternoon everybody! Mostly gray day, but not too cold. All our snow is gone, and the dead grass and bare trees are not at all attractive!

Hi, Stella! We’re at 40 degrees and overcast. The only snow left is the humongous pile our maintenance people stacked against our back fence which has turned into a long block of ice. That’ll be there until June probably.

Afternoon, Stella and all! We’ll be at the point you are at in about 3 months. Meanwhile, it’s 20* out and headed for +5* in the next few days. The landscape is solid white everywhere I look and the snow is about 18″ deep in the open back yard. I’m reaching the point in winter where my eyes long for green. Maybe it’s time to think about a trip down south. We have a snowbird friend in Arizona who keeps inviting us to come visit and take a break from winter. Sounds good at the moment.

In other news, I’m finally getting teed up for knee replacement surgery, hopefully in late May. Don’t want to do it until the snow is gone. I’ve been putting it off for several years but have reached the “can’t stand it any more” point. Everyone I know who has had it says I’ll be sorry I waited so long. Hope they are right!

Okay ladies. This is fun. Although I was a bit young for big girl fashions in the 1950’s, many of these styles carried over into the 1960’s, when I was! Some of these dresses and skirts remind me of what I wore (mostly for special occasions) in the early 1960’s.

That was fun, Stella! We also wore pedal pushers and toreador pants but that might have been more of a California thing since we seldom had to be dressed warmly. I didn’t even have a long wool coat until my first Los Angeles office job in the 60s. It was glam and had a fox fur cape attached.

Most of the dresses in this vid would have been worn in my little San Bernardino County town during the 50s. But anything, including prom dresses, which showed cleavage would have been condemned not only by the school administration but also by the clergy.

One of my girlfriends (who even in 8th grade was well-endowed) was the queen of her parish church festival. When the priest saw her dress before the ceremonies, he asked if she had a fancy bolero or lacy stole to wear as her dress was too low in front. We did find her something but don’t remember now what it was. I do remember that she was embarrassed.

I don’t remember pedal pushers, but I do remember stretch pants (with mohair sweaters) in the 1960’s!

I had a strapless tea length dress that I wore to prom (1963). I had borrowed it from my cousin Diane. I recently found out that Diane had inherited it from our cousin, Cindy!

I remember pedal pushers, in fact that is what I call pants that end under the knee now. I had three formals, two were strapless, but not too low and one was an off shoulder. One was borrowed, one came from Goodwill, and the other one was bought from a friend. I loved the crinolines and tight bodices. Women’s styles were still feminine then.

Getting clothes from one of our older first cousins was a regular thing. Her father was a bank v.p. and her mother (Mom’s sister) was a school teacher. They were quite comfortable monetarily and our cousin always had nice things. My Sis and I loved to get the packages. It was like Christmas.

I’m sure most of you have seen, or at least heard about this report by now, but the fish-wrapper of record has finally come out and spilled the beans about Quasimodo of the Senate being brain-damaged…….their words, not mine. I’m shocked, I tell ya. This is an article about the article. But you get the point.

Here’s what happens if Senator Veggie shuts it down…………..

FTA – “Should Fetterman choose to resign, Shapiro would be responsible for choosing a replacement who would serve in the Senate seat until the next scheduled statewide election. Then, voters would hold a special election to choose who would carry out the remainder of Fetterman’s term.”

Me – I don’t know when the next statewide election would be…….likely ’24, so his illegal alien wife Morticia, might serve less than 2 years before she gets kicked to the curb. She will surely be disappointed about that.
