    February in Las Vegas…

    February in Costa Rica…

No indication of whether this was taken in February or not. I just posted it because I liked it…so much for my theme.

If the weather is snowy and you have to stay inside today, here’s a sweet film to watch. It’s a clear and beautiful illustration of the Technicolor process….

The Little Princess (Shirley Temple, 1939) HD Quality

Good day, weather! Her movies were relatable for us kids because she was relatable in her emotions and actions. Her goodness came shining through. And all through her life, no matter what terrible thing happened, she was an overcomer.

She is such a darling. I love all the stories about how she knew everyone else’s lines.

Adorable child. Her IQ was reputed to be in the 150s. She had what was called a photographic memory (don’t know the psychological term). She’d look at a page and it would remain entirely in her conscious mind.

Another interesting thing about her career, after a film was finished shooting, her mother (who was also her manager) collected all her costumes–dresses, etc. plus shoes, hats, whatever–boxed them up neatly and stored them. Not until after Shirley died did her family discover the boxes in storage. They were sold at a fan auction.

This looks to be the eastern side of the island. On the other side, the lagoon is said to be over 3,000 ft deep, and the US Navy enlarged the opening in the reef to about 100 yards across; then anchored the Sixth Fleet in there, safe from Japanese torpedoes. The torpedo net is still visible at the bottom of the cut.
The lagoon surrounds the crater of Opa Manu (Belly of the Stonefish), the ancient volcano that formed the island. The original and only opening in the reef was caused by fresh water running down the mountainside, across the lagoon to the reef, which it killed; it being allergic to fresh water.

Afternoon All. 18* and mostly clear. The sky is blue with some filmy clouds. All in all a pretty day. Loki is taking her after breakfast nap on the arm of my chair. I am thinking about calling my dentist to see if he can see me. May be a problem. I don’t know if I can get my car out, though. I will have to try, I guess.

    Everybody stay safe and warm.

    President Trump vs. the Swamp
    By MWG – Posted February 3, 2023

There are two groups of Trump haters. The first are what this writer terms, “The Weak Sister Crowd.” These are the whiners and crybabies who got their noses out of joint when Trump released a “mean” tweet that brought tears to their eyes. They’re the, “Trump said boo to the _____ (insert target group here), and I’m not going vote for him ever again” brainiacs.

The second group of NeverTrumpers are the Deep Swamp critters who benefit off the U.S. Feral Gruberment’s largesse.
