Those are pretty scruffy looking locals. Cheerful, and likely friendly, tho. Do you suppose they comb their hair and beards occasionally?

LOL! Good day to you, Czarina!

Morning Lucille. I guess active imaginations must have to do something creative with 3-4 hours of daylight, hence the complex troll history! 😉

Good afternoon, weather! I have former relatives from Iceland. No insult, but they are very different from North Americans.

Thanks, Lucille. That second one looks a lot like the view from my living room, only before the town was built. My town, for shopping and the like, is about 12 miles away.

You’re welcome, Tundra! Such a pretty scene.

I like history in 4 minute bites – not overwhelming, gives me time to connect it with what I learned before.

Me, too. If a video is a couple hours long, I generally find a shorter vid on the same subject. Even movies unless I’ve seen them before and liked them.
I often view certain films over and over again–like CASABLANCA which I’ve seen at least 50 times; CHARADE, maybe 15 times. Btw, when Universal Studios released CHARADE in 1963, it went immediately into the public domain in the United States. Somehow somebody didn’t do his job and failed to put the specifically worded copyright notice into the opening credits which is absolutely required. Can you imagine? Wonder if that person was fired. Never heard anything to that effect, and studios are notorious for being gossip mills.
I recall telling one of my co-workers who was a big gossiper to remember that if you gossip, you can be sure that you’re being gossiped about.

Cary Grant was my favorite actor when I was about 13, and I watched every movie that was available on tv. I don’t know how many times I have watched Charade, but it’s a lot!

I was crazy about Cary as a teenager and read everything about him. My best girlfriend loved Errol Flynn and we would debate who was the best looking and the best actor, etc. LOL!
Grant was really unique. A truly handsome man with a great voice, he literally created his persona of the suave, cultured gentleman he showed to the world. Born in England, his birth name was Archibald Leach. His mother was placed in a mental hospital and he was told by his father that she had died. Subsequently, his father basically abandoned him after starting a new family. As a mid-teenager he joined an acrobatic troupe as a dancer and later a stilt walker. When he was married to Dyan Cannon, I think, he also was among a group that experimented with LSD, seeking to come to terms with his harsh childhood.
If you have not seen this very interesting film, I think you will enjoy it….

My absolute favorite star was/is John Wayne. I have seen all his movies, except the. cops ones over and over again.

Wow, thank you for this, Lucille. I may watch it several more times. Packs a lot in. There’s a really good hour-long documentary style film called “Star of Bethlehem” that explains with astronomy what the Star was. It’s fascinating.

Glad you liked it, Tundra! Dave is so relatable. His ability to explain his subject without getting highfalutin is a gift.

Mornin’ All. Since the roads seem clear, I am going to make a try for a trip to Walmart to get groceries. It is overcast and 20* right now. I don’t know what will happen later. The weather guessers have been way off for the last week or so. It snows when they say it won’t and it won’t when they say it will. Oh, well, I just figure it is time to do a little more stocking up, so I had better take this opportunity.
Looks like some bad weather coming across the states. Hope you all can stay safe and dry and warm.

Good day, aus! We’re sunless and 31 degrees with huge mounds of snow that’s been shoveled off sidewalks and the complex internal road. It’s treacherous to go to the mailbox and to the trash bin because the “clean-up” wasn’t properly done around those two places, making it slip and slide time. I tried shoveling it, but it’s turned to ice already and unmovable.
Have you set up an account with Walmart delivery? The fee is $12.95 per month with unlimited deliveries. Non-perishables are often delivered via UPS or other delivery services. Perishables are delivered via one of the local delivery companies and tipping is suggested. It’s a lifesaver for those of us who can no longer drive.

Yes, I unwittingly did. I just realized the other day that I had done that and that is why I don’t pay for delivery. Usually I have the groceries delivered, but there is an ordinance here that alcohol can’t be delivered. So, I went to pick up my groceries since the roads were pretty clear. I ordered enough wine to last through the winter since I may not be able to get out like that in Jan and Feb. Who knows?

I use Instacart, which delivers from a multitude of retailers, including drugstores, pet stores, dollar stores, Costco, Sam’s Club etc. I pay $99 a year for the service, although they have added a per/delivery service fee. I think that’s for the increase in gasoline costs. You can also subscribe on a monthly basis for $9.99.

Some of the retailers I use can deliver alcohol, while other don’t. Aldi does (cheapest wine), as well as Kroger and Meijer (most expensive), and a couple of liquor stores.
Bad news is that Wine.com can no longer sell in Michigan. They changed the law so that only Michigan vineyards can sell via the internet in Michigan. Sounds like the legislature got paid off by Michigan businesses.

I was told this was a local ordinance.

Oh, I understand. Just lucky we don’t have that issue.

Have you tried https://us.nakedwines.com. They often send out discount cards. I haven’t tried them because I’m not allowed alcohol of any kind anymore, but they have what looks to be superb selections.

Oh, I forgot that wine cannot be delivered in your area. You might check out to see if there are any loopholes in the law or if it’s just deliveries from local outlets.

In Michigan, it is only from local companies. I was a loyal wine.com customer, and I miss it. I have complained by email to my state representatives, but to no avail.

I’ll check it out. My requirements for wine are slightly sweet and cheap.

Do you have an Aldi in your area? If so, I recommend their Winking Owl Pinot Grigio. Less than $3 a bottle, and really good if you like slightly sweet/fruity wine. I don’t like sweet wine, but I do like this. It’s very fresh.

SPF-50 denied bail. Hehehehe! He told the judge he should be freed on bond because he’s “vegan and depressed”. This kid’s got a rough road ahead. Sounds like a sociopath to me. But I don’t really care.

That led me to this article. SPF-50 wants to start another business so he can pay everybody back. He needs some time in lock-up, tied down to get his mind right. He’s delusional and a sociopath. Hopefully, after his trial, he’ll be in a safe place where he can think about this new venture………..for about 30-40 years.
