A Yuletide Floral Tradition at Winterthur, Delaware
https://www.winterthur.org/a-yuletide-floral-tradition/
From Winterthur’s “About” section: “Winterthur is the premier museum of American decorative arts, with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America since 1640. The collection is displayed in the magnificent 175-room house, much as it was when the family of founder Henry Francis du Pont called it home.
“Winterthur is also 1,000 acres of protected meadows, woodlands, ponds, and waterways. The 60-acre garden, designed by du Pont, is among America’s best, with magnificent plantings and massive displays of color throughout the year. The graduate degree programs and extensive research library make Winterthur an important center for the study of American art and culture.”

Morning Wee, whilst I might agree in premise, refreshing is not exactly the word I’d use to describe that things wardrobe. If ever there was a candidate for “orange is the new black”……

Really, I’m trying to avoid attending to this person. Like I don’t read or watch anything about the former royals.

Good afternoon, Wee! Oh my! Hopefully every woman who has had luggage gone missing anywhere in the world will check Sam’s online photos to determine if he is wearing her clothes.

Mornin’ Wee, and all ya’all! Another day starting out foggy and humid. May break after 10, but only to stay cloudy. Very light rain on me while I watched the dogs run around the yard. Looks like another good day to stay in and sew.

My brother is now home from his open heart surgery last week, and doing quite well. He went into it in excellent condition (gym rat, runs daily), and was doing laps with his nurse in the hospital hallways by the 3rd day after surgery. MD (who said he has done 6,000 heart surgeries in his career) said Brother is one of his outstanding patients.
The two problems during the stay were poor pain management and staff trying to force him to take statins. Seems even if the doc writes an opioid order for “every 4 hours” the pharmacy program changes it to “as needed” meaning the patient must ask for it. By the time he starts to hurt it will be 30-60 minutes or more before the oral meds are presented, and another 20-30 before they take effect. This is bone pain in the middle of his chest, and every breath is supremely painful. Brother tried setting his phone alarm so he could ask for it 30 minutes before 4 hours, so as to get continuous coverage, but his nurse turned nasty on him and delayed responding. He spoke to the doctors who said it was out of their hands.
Second, Brother has avoided statins and discussed this with his PCP, cardiologist, cardiac interventionist and cardiac surgeon. But when the RN (the nasty one mentioned above) passed meds and he declined to take the statins despite her best efforts to explain why he should, she brought in an anesthesiologist (who must have been the only doctor in the neighborhood, since he had nothing prior to do with Brother’s care), who argued with Brother until the monitor showed Brother’s blood pressure and heart rate were rising and finally went away, mumbling “paranoid”.
So now he is getting adequate sleep (remember you can’t get any sleep in a hospital), walking twice daily (over a mile each time), and his appetite has returned.

Glad your brother is recovering well…he must feel great!
But…better statins than having your chest cracked open – effects of statins are definitely mitigated with CoQ10 (my better half’s personal experience–also a committed endurance athlete).

Good news! Sorry he had to endure the pain without enough help.

Wonderful that he did so well through the surgery. And, being willing to walk will help him heal so much faster. And, I am glad he is finally getting some sleep. That is so important, too.

Mornin’ All. Or, maybe afternoon. I never know what to say. It is cloudy with even dark clouds. I think there is supposed to be snow this afternoon. I haven’t checked the latest from the weather guessers.
My family got tickets to the Nutcracker at the college tomorrow. It is part of my Christmas. I love to see it and my son knows I didn’t get to go but a couple of times while I was married. So, I am really excited and so are the granddaughters.
Hope you all have a nice day.

I was flipping through the radio and landed on pbs, which I detest.
But they were talking about how queen Elizabeth II played a role in getting the womens marathon into the Olympics. Supposedly, a major city needed to hold a qualifying event in order for the Olympics to consider adding the event. The Queen made this happen.
I have failed at being able to confirm this happened.
Did pbs make this up?

This article seems pretty exhaustive in details, and that was not mentioned.

San Diego: Muslims screaming ‘Allahu akbar’ manhandle journalist for questioning imam about hate crime
December 8, 2022 5:00 PM By ROBERT SPENCER
Why not just come clean, answer Kalam’s questions, and clear up all the oddities about this case? Why continually act as if they have something to hide? Unless, of course, they have something to hide. And note how asking pointed questions is “Islamophobia.”
