   In “The Amplified” version…Verses 3-5A….

   “For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God’s truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold, and will turn their ears away from the truth and will wander off into myths and man-made fictions [and will accept the unacceptable]. But as for you, be clear-headed in every situation [stay calm and cool and steady]….”

   For fun. Looked this up for a Twitter person who claims that the Bible is twisted and changed over time. His exact words:

   Yeah, the Bible will get twisted for many reasons whether denial or to intentionally manipulate people. Because the word has been twisted and edited so much (and will continue to be) is why I can’t and won’t put all my eggs in one basket when it comes to faith.

   King James Version (published in 1611):

   3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
   4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
   5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

   Wycliffe Bible version (published circa 1382):

   3 For tyme schal be, whanne men schulen not suffre hoolsum teching, but at her desiris thei schulen gadere `togidere to hem silf maistris yitchinge to the eeris.
   4 And treuli thei schulen turne awei the heryng fro treuthe, but to fablis thei schulen turne.
   5 But wake thou, in alle thingis traueile thou, do the werk of an euangelist, fulfille thi seruyce, be thou sobre.
