Music of the day – Over the river and through the woods …

Today I have been setting up my “Music of the day” posts for the Christmas season, and so I thought I would also include the days between Thanksgiving and the first Sunday in Advent.

By the way, if  you have a favorite seasonal song that I haven’t already included in my extensive list, I will be happy to include it!

One of a few things that I remember from kindergarten is learning this song for Thanksgiving. The other two are making clay snakes, and napping on the rug that my mother knit for me.

Some of us travel to be with family or friends on Thanksgiving, so this song seems appropriate. As a little girl, we did travel to “grandmother’s house” (my mother’s first husband’s mother!) for Thanksgiving, so it has memories for me in more than one way.

I remember in my days of deer hunting here in Pa. that I was thankful for a little bit of snow to make tracking a little easier. Deer season is now upon us, drive with the idea that hunters WILL be moving deer. The deer are normally nocturnal.

‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ with Ann Margaret and Al Hirt…a sweet and simple rendition. Thanks Stella!! (I’ll probably remember more as time passes.)
