Now at three days of speech and hearing conference. This year I travelled to downtown New Orleans! Yes, it took all of an hour&1/2. So far I ate beignets, coffee au lait, & crawfish etouffee. Successfully walked around the French Quarter being a tour guide for my roommate from Tampa. Grey, windy and cold, not typical November.

Mornin’/afternoon All. it was 10* when we got up this morning. I am concerned about a spot on Loki’s eye and had planned yesterday afternoon to try to get an appt with the vet. I figured I would try driving there because the road has been clear for days now. Right after that, I got up to close the curtains and saw that it was snowing out. Now I have to figure out what to do.
I took Loki out this morning and they had cleared and salted the sidewalk. Evidently something, the salt or whatever, hurt her foot because she jerked it up and got back into the snow. Then she came to me wanting to be picked up. She never does that. I got her away from the sidewalk and took her in and washed her feet. She quit limping when she got off the sidewalk, and she seems fine now. But I was very concerned. I don’t want her sniffing it up her nose.
Well, the sun is out and the sky is clear for now. Hope you are warm wherever you are.

What kind of spot does Loki have on her eye? My Stella once had a round dark brown spot on the white of her eye. She was referred to a veterinary eye specialist, who diagnosed it as melanoma, and removed it during surgery. The kind of melanoma she had does not spread, and she was A-okay after having it removed.

This is a light spot. I think it may be a cataract starting. I also think that there is one in her other eye that was there when she had her teeth pulled and I know the vet looked at it. I just wish it wouldn’t be so hard and expensive to take her to have it checked.

I know what you are saying about the vet cost! You are probably right, and it is just a cataract.

Afternoon everyone. I shared this with admins, and Stella suggested that I share it here. Maybe if you know anyone job hunting this will help them. I’m sure glad I’m not in the workforce any longer.
Someone I know has been job hunting for some time after taking a few necessary months off.
Anyhow, maybe six months ago, she decided to leave her job and take some time off. She’d planned on, and prepared for, a career change when she decided to re-enter the work force. She’s been seriously job hunting for several months with no success. This is a woman at the peak of her career age and experience wise, very professional, confident, and proven.
After getting no interviews for a month or so, she hired a career coach and found out there are bots or whatever you call ‘em that decide whether your application or resume gets through to a person. Hers wasn’t getting seen because she didn’t know the format that the bots choose. Then one thing after another that she needed to fix to get through the system when online job hunting.
She got interviews, some with companies or jobs she wasn’t interested in, some she didn’t get follow up on, but still, not much.
All along, she told me she’d resisted sites like Linked In repeatedly telling her to list her pronouns. Finally she gave in and did it. I’m sure you won’t find it surprising to hear she’s getting some good interviews now.
