Besides shattering a U.S. record for apprehending nearly 2.4 million illegal immigrants along the Mexican border in fiscal year 2022, Border Patrol agents arrested hundreds of gang members—mostly from the famously violent Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13)—and dozens of people on the national terrorist watchlist. Federal agents also confiscated thousands of pounds of drugs, mainly methamphetamine, according to government figures released by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) just days ago. The startling year-end (fiscal years run from October to September) stats depict a chaotic Mexican border region rife with lawlessness that is inevitably seeping north.

Good day, Miz Wee. Never in my life did I or my date pay a cover charge. Guess it just wasn’t a big thing in the L.A. of my youth.

As for AOC, looks like America will have to endure two more years of this whiner who has millions of campaign dollars to beat Republican Tina Forte. Maybe a miracle will happen and the people of NY14 will turn sensible and throw AOC out on her noggin.

Looking at statistics yesterday, did you know that 51% of pregnancies in D.C. end in abortion? It’s shocking.

Mornin’ All. 28* here and holding. It must have snowed all night because there are a few more inches this morning.

Well, the morning has been interesting so far. The snowblower woke me up, probably about 6:00 or so. I had an appt. at the DMV to get my new license at 10:30 and I had had to make arrangements with a taxi because the free bus was full. They called about 9:55 to tell me they had had an accident and would be at least 25 min. late. I called the DMV to see if it was possible to come in late and they didn’t think that would work since we don’t know for sure how late I would be. So, the next available appt. is Jan. 4, 2023. My Florida license is good for a few more years, so that isn’t a problem. This may work out better for me. It was going to cost me $40 to take a taxi there and back. Uber would be the same. I thought it was supposed to be cheaper. Anyway, now I should be able to take the free bus because I can make arrangements way ahead. Loki is much happier since she doesn’t have to stay in the kennel.

Oh, I see holes in the clouds and blue sky is peeping through. The snow really looks gorgeous. I sure am glad I was able to find a pair of snow boots.

Here’s hoping you all have nice weather and a pleasant day.

Cleaning the top of my entertainment center (which is far above eye level). It is large, in three sections; the two sections on the outside are glass fronted bookcases. I confess that I haven’t cleaned up there in a long time (out of sight . . .) and it is absolutely filthy, covered with a layer of dust and animal hair. Ditto on everything that was up there (speakers, some framed photos etc) also filthy. I’m almost done, and noting to myself not to allow this to happen again. I have never been known as Suzy housekeeper, but this is ridiculous.

Another note to myself: Hire somebody to clean out my heat and cold air return ducts. I’ve been here more than 20 years, and I’ll bet the previous owners didn’t clean them either.
