Donald Trump posted this comment on Truth Social yesterday:
What is the “big mistake”? From the Washington Examiner:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recording a robocall for underdog Senate contender Joe O’Dea, a boost for the Colorado Republican after former President Donald Trump urged grassroots conservatives to abandon his campaign.
“Hello this is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. America needs strong leadership and desperately. That’s why I’m endorsing Joe O’Dea for U.S. Senate. Colorado, please vote for Joe O’Dea,” DeSantis says in the robocall, a recording of which was provided to the Washington Examiner on Sunday by the O’Dea campaign. “I’ve watched Joe from a distance. And I’m impressed.”
In endorsing O’Dea, DeSantis is charting a course separate from Trump in the midterm elections and stoking speculation the two Republican heavyweights are on a collision course in the upcoming 2024 GOP presidential primary. Just days earlier, the former president lashed out at O’Dea, calling him a “RINO,” which stands for “Republican in Name Only,” and criticizing him for speaking openly about their disagreements.
[. . .]
O’Dea has distanced himself from Trump on matters relating to the 2020 election and has expressed regret that Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court.
Last Sunday O’Dea said on CNN, “I don’t think Donald Trump should run again. . . I’m going to actively campaign against Donald Trump and make sure that we have got four or five really great Republicans right now; Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley and Tim Scott.”
Is it any wonder that Donald Trump is upset at O’Dea, and questioning why DeSantis has gone out of his way to endorse him? In fact, why is DeSantis involving himself in a national Senatorial race while he is actively working to be reelected as Governor of Florida? And why did he pick O’Dea – the only Senate candidate that he has endorsed?
DeSantis has been a good governor for Florida. There is no doubt that his policies and actions have been solidly conservative. So why go out of his way to endorse an anti-MAGA candidate? Is it because he is positioning himself for a Presidential run in 2024, and is aligning with the elite leaders of the Republican Party?
Also from the Washington Examiner:
In addition to support from DeSantis, O’Dea has been endorsed by a who’s who of Republicans eyeing a 2024 White House bid, including former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR); former ambassador Nikki Haley; Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan; and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC). DeSantis also has the backing of Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX).

Always been skeptical of DeSantis…we don’t need a politician in the WH. Trump has his flaws and judgement-fails, but our interests are his interests. I just hope – if he gets in – that he can find at least a handful of Cabinet members that were as good as his last ones (Wilbur Ross comes to mind). Since he seems to listen to others, at least let there be some qualified advisors.

To answer the question posed at the end of the article: Of course Gov Ron is planning to run in 2024. If the polls are correct, DeSantis has about a 30+ point deficit to overcome, and he’s #2. If only he’s stay Governor of FL til 2028, he’s have Trump’s endorsement and be unstoppable; but McConnell being the treasonous bastard he is, is adding millions more to Ron’s $200 million campaign funds. He will give Crist a shellacking; but he’s Presidential aspirations for 2024 are futile.

O’DAE ON CNN? THE KISS OF DEATH IN MY BOOK. And he thinks Hayley and Scott would make good Presidents? The guy is laughable. I see Paulie Ryan’s hateful hand in all this. Together with other RINOS, Ryan is leading the charge to keep President Trump from the 2024 nomination.
IMO, DeSantis is getting some pretty poor advice. No one says he has to kiss Donald Trump’s ring, but come on now. After all President Trump has done for our country, I consider that a VERY QUESTIONABLE decision to shove your support toward a RINO who so blatantly disses our REAL President. I’m disappointed in Ron. He could have stayed out of this.
On the other hand, I certainly do not want Michael Bennett to win the seat for the Dems. What to do, what to do? Glad I don’t live in Colorado.

Decisions are hard to make for voters, but we will have to see how things pan out.
