Mz. WeeWeed, may your afternoon be full of delicious coffee delights!

A little story re expresso. Working for the chairman, I was in charge of both the executive conference room (very fancy with a beautiful glass table for 10 and lovely art–the boss was a huge collector) and the regular conference room which could be scheduled by any staff member (nice leather table for 12). Between the two was an executive kitchen which I kept stocked with various coffees for the meetings.

Every morning I’d see one of the young secretaries go into the executive kitchen and come out a few minutes later with a cup of expresso. Assuming it was for her boss, I didn’t make an issue of it. But when it got out-of-hand I did mention that her boss must be addicted. Turned out that the expressos were for the gal herself…PLUS she was also using the company delivery accounts like FedEx to send packages to friends and family. Do I have to say that she got fired?

Mornin’ All. It rained last night and the sky is all gray. It is about 65* and pleasant right now. I talked to my friend in Florida about 2:00 PM my time yesterday , I guess 4:00 her time. I tried to reach her a few hours later but all the phone lines are off, I guess because as soon as I finish dialing the number a voice comes on and says that the call cannot go through. I can understand that, but I wish I could reach her just to see if she is okay.

Hope everyone is safe wherever you are.

Yes, I have been thinking about him, too. I finally reached my friend on her cell phone and she is without power, but okay. She is between Lakeland and Orlando. I spoke to someeone is Lakeland and she said they had a lot of wind, but not flooding but they are talking about a lot of flooding in Orlando. I don’t really understand that.

Ad Rem is preparing a post on CTH about the SD situation and general hurricane info.

From what I understand about flooding in Orlando, there are a lot of lakes and they are getting a lot more rain, so the flooding will come from the lakes overflowing?

That is probable. My friend has been telling me that it has been raining like crazy for weeks and all the lakes around her are full. That is why I was worried about flooding in her area. So far, there hasn’t been any around her. She lives in Auburndale. She says there are drainage systems around her, but I can’t imagine where it could drain to if the lakes are full.

Afternoon, aus. It’s raining like crazy here this morning and cold. Luckily I have no reason to be out in it and no packages are scheduled for delivery (even though there is a sign to do so, sometimes the delivery folk don’t ring the doorbell and packages get wet).

Glad you were able to reach your friend. It’s going to be extremely rough going for the foreseeable future. Praying for her and all the folks affected.

Ad Rem just posted the following that she received by text from Sundance:

    More from Sundance…

Dear treepers. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

We are blessed and thankful to be unharmed and safe.

Unfortunately, like thousands of others, home base took major damage.

The roof could not withstand hours of 140 mph winds. The front side of storm weakened it, and the backside compromised it. There are multiple structural failures all around my neighborhood.

No power, water, internet etc. – all time today working on debris removal, temp patches, and recovery survival. All will be okay.

    All my love…

More from Sundance (he’s texting via phone):

Ft. Myers pier, gone. Cape Coral pier, gone. Pine Island bridge destroyed. Sanibel Causeway gone. Only way to Sanibel or Pine Island is boat. 98% of Lee County no power. No water in Cape Coral. The scale is unimaginable. 25% of homes destroyed.
We got lucky. We have most of structure still.
