Let’s all lose the craziness, Stellars…and just sail away….

The largest full-rigged sailing ship in the world is a steel-hulled, 54 foot wide/439 footer named the Royal Clipper, owned by Star Clippers, Sweden; mast height is 197 feet and there are 42 sails; the ship holds 227 passengers, 106 crew.

A few years ago I read Dana’s Two Years Before the Mast, written in the mid 1800’s about working on a sailing cargo ship. I skipped over a chapter about rigging and all its details. It is very complicated, but very important when the boat is out to sea!

Yes, in the old days there was only manpower. Rigging was learned from the time the men were small boys, and life at sea was very hard. The 1880s American clipper ships were the pinnacle of ship building for trade ships. They were the fastest and most successful. You can read about them here: https://naval-encyclopedia.com/industrial-era/clippers.php

I first became interested in clipper ships as a young girl after reading a novel about the American Civil War and the role an American clipper ship captain plus the Russian fleet played in that war. Of course, I totally related to the young woman who loved the attractive captain. Being a very romantic kid, I must have read that book five times in my teen years. I just now got it out of my office bookcase. The pages are all browned and the cover tattered. Maybe I’ll start reading it again this afternoon.

You should take in the “Tall Ships”. It is a beautiful sight. I watched them 3 years running, enter Booth Bay Harbor, coming out of the fog; back in the mid-60s. Then in 2000, we rode around Boston Harbor viewing them up close. Probably 40 ships at anchor. At night we took a dinner cruise and saw them all lit up. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous and so impressive.

Here’s a 17 minute vid taken July 11, 2022 in the harbor of Hvar, Croatia…the Royal Clipper is jawdroppingly beautiful speeding full sail or even just slowly leaving harbor….

Isn’t it magnificent. I was just reading that here is another sailing ship, the Golden Horizon, launched in 2021, that claims a footage of 531 feet! So apparently the Royal Clipper is now second in length at 439 feet.

        This is the Golden Horizon….

Mornin’ All. We got rain last night. I had no idea it was raining until I checked the weather website for today and saw that it was raining in my location. So, I pulled back the curtain, and……….it was. I thought they would be better at forecasting here than in Florida. Evidently not. The website had shown no rain for days right up until it started raining. LOL.

Loki had her last 4 canine teeth pulled yesterday. They said she should be ready to go home about 4:00, but at noon the vet called and said she would be ready by 2:00. She said she “popped” out of the anesthetic as soon as they were through. She wasn’t as out of it as I have seen other dogs after a procedure. It was obvious, though, last night that she was sick to her stomach. She threw up a little once. I put food down for her this morning and she ate. She seems to feel better today. I was worried, but she came through it very well. Oh, and I was afraid her tongue would hang out all the time. So far, that isn’t happening. Well, I need to give her some pain meds and another antibiotic.

So, so long for now. Have a nice day.

Here in the Idaho Panhandle we certainly know what you mean about unpredictable weather. We also had rain that hadn’t been on the docket for yesterday. We’re at 74 right now and heading to a cloudy 89 degrees.

Good to hear Miss Loki is doing better. Pulling teeth ain’t no joke for human or canine.

As usual, the highlight of my day will be a grocery delivery from Walmart which is due any minute.

      Take care!

Does the Dem party have any idea how seething mad deplorables with guns are? Maybe an inkling and that’s why they’re arming the IRS to the hilt and the EPA and probably every department under Biden’s filthy hands. Never assume the leftist Dems won’t pull a Stalin on us all.

I just received the following from a pal of mine who has a huge email list to both retired military and business people. So the Kurt Schlichter article is getting disseminated far and wide….

“Today’s Kurt is full of fire and venom. Good! Somebody had better lead us or the ramparts will never be taken.

“There is either going to be blood spilled or we will live live cattle for the remainder of our lives. If you don’t get the danger and act, we are finished.:

    TRUMP: ‘It Was All Declassified’
    August 12, 2022

The following is from Trump: “Number one, it was all declassified. Number two, they didn’t need to “seize” anything. They could have had it anytime they wanted without playing politics and breaking into Mar-a-Lago. It was in secured storage, with an additional lock put on as per their request…

“…They could have had it anytime they wanted—and that includes LONG ago. ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS ASK. The bigger problem is, what are they going to do with the 33 million pages of documents, many of which are classified, that President Obama took to Chicago?”

All the pundits (Warroom, Just the News, Greta, etc.) say the Constitution over rides the claims made by DOJ; ie, President ha s absolute authority to classify/declassify anything chosen.

Rats, progressives, apologists , whatever….are producing articles with biased and edited info to support their side. Completely avoiding such alternative info as Dershowitz provides. How appropriately the FBI is behaving, while ignoring how Roger Stone, Michael Cohen , etc. was handled… etc.

Yes and yes. Imagine being immensely mad and getting madder 24/7 since Donald and Melania came down that escalator in 2015. It’s wearing on the mind, spirit, body and they are certainly showing signs of incurable syndromes causing them to be incapable of common sense or reasoning at all.
