How boring must a cow’s life be without someone to play with! Note she kicks as well as noses the ball around.

I read an article which stated that cows respond positively to kindness. If a cow is worked with early in life, it maintains a higher degree of intelligence than previously thought. If the cow has little interaction with humans who treat it as a “working” pet (such as a dairy cow), they seem to lose enthusiasm for life and become almost like robots and exhibit a dull and/or fearful demeanor. Emotionally battered.
I have family members who rolled their eyes when I told them the above. But how much more effort does it take to treat an animal with the kindness and respect a fellow creature of God deserves? In my book, the joy this cow showed at the simple act of playing ball would have been worth all the effort.

Good day to you, WeeWeed! Remembrance of the timelines of history sort of fade as I get older. Did the Mogols/Chinese invent explosives before the Crusades began? Did Europeans also invent it? The following article re the Jerusalem hand grenade find indicates that Europeans did, indeed, know about a “gun powder” type of substance. I just wonder how many handless ex-Crusaders were running around Europe after experimenting with such stuff.

Did you know there is a grave marker for a camel at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg?
“Old Douglas” was a domesticated camel used by Company A of the Forty-third Mississippi Infantry, part of the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Because of Old Douglas, the 43rd Mississippi Infantry came to be known as the Camel Regiment.
Douglas was originally part of a U.S. War Department program called the Texas Camel Experiment, which aimed to experiment with camels as a possible alternative to horses and mules, which were dying of dehydration in vast numbers. Jefferson Davis, who had ascended to the position of United States Secretary of War in 1853, was a strong proponent of the program, and used his political influence to make the experiment happen.
Although the details are unknown, Douglas somehow made his way to Mississippi. He was initially given to Colonel W. H. Moore by 1st Lt. William Hargrove. Besides being a mascot, Moore assigned Douglas to the regimental band, carrying instruments and knapsacks.
Though the men tried to treat Old Douglas like a horse, the camel was known to break free of any tether, and was eventually allowed to graze freely. Despite not being tied up, he never wandered far from the men. The Infantry’s horses feared Old Douglas, and he is recorded to have spooked one horse into starting a stampede, which reportedly injured many, and possibly killed one or two horses.
Old Douglas’s first active service was with Gen. Price in the Iuka campaign. He also participated in the 1862 Battle of Corinth. He remained with the regiment until the Siege of Vicksburg, where he was killed by Union sharpshooters. Enraged at his murder, the men swore to avenge him. Col. Bevier enlisted six of his best snipers, and successfully shot the culprit. Of Douglas’s murderer, Bevier reportedly said, “I refused to hear his name, and was rejoiced to learn that he had been severely wounded.”
Douglas is currently honored with his own grave marker in Vicksburg’s Cedar Hill Cemetery. He, along with other camels used during the war, are not overlooked by historians, nor by Civil War Reenactors. There is currently a group called the Texas Camel Corps, whose mission is to promote the stories of camels, like Old Douglas, used during the Civil War.

Two nights ago the hand held shower head fell on me! I guess I did not put it back in the holder tightly. I have a cut and two big bruises on myforehead, and look like I lost the fight!

As you know, I’m short. I had to stand on my toes in the shower to just barely reach the hand held shower. After having 2 wonderful people I know slip in the shower, fall and die, I put one of those stick-on 3m hooks on the shower wall, and just place the shower head hose on that. I just pick it up and put it there as needed when showering. It’s easy. Just follow directions cleaning the area well then wiping with alcohol, let dry, attach the hook, let alone for a while, then use.
Hello Everyone! 🙂 It’s so nice to have some time to read you all and comment a little. I have a couple of days of forced inactivity due to a sinus infection, so I can comment when not napping, then it’s back to the grind. I may have to give in and get a general contractor, but who actually does good work these days? Who to trust – the last one was horrendous. I’m going to try a man that does it as a 2nd job, but is a member of my church and has done work on the church.

I actually let my shower head just dangle by the hose (mine is metal links). I shower sitting down most of the time anyway.

Good mornin’ All. Cloudy and almost cold this morning. I can see the sun shining through though. But, it sure looks like it might rain. I’m going to talk to someone about Medicare coverage this morning. I doubt I will find anything as good as I had in Florida, but I am hopeful. The one in Florida was an HMO, but it just happened to suit me. So we will see what she has found. The first thing she wanted me to have was my Medicare card. Of course it is in a lock box somewhere in a box that hasn’t been opened and that I probably can’t get to.
So, I had better go and look again. Have a nice ay.

Oh dear. Good luck finding it. I can’t find my social security card which (fortunately) I don’t usually need to use. I stopped carrying it in my wallet because I didn’t want my SS# out there if my purse was stolen. Now I can’t remember where I put it.

After reading about your needing your packed-away Medicare card, I got to thinking where mine might be. It was in my wallet. But then I wondered where is my original Social Security card. No luck this afternoon in finding it. I did, however, locate the paperwork from 1960 when I got my SS card. But what the hey did I ever do with the signed card itself?

According to guest on the WarRoom, the judge made a really bad mistake. This should lead to dismissal on appeal. Apparently, the judge disallowed the letter from President Trump protecting Bannon.
