So happy to see these posts again, Lucille. By the way, we streamed the Father’s Day drive thru time show last night on our TV screen and thoroughly enjoyed it. Reminds me of Mike Rowe a little, and – your’re right – his presentation is very comfortable.
Hope you and Stellars have a bright week!!

So glad you liked it, weather. Dave is one of my favorite people. His videos often help clear up some of the questions I have about history in general and Biblical history, specifically. And he does it in a relatable and well-researched way. Have a lovely day!

How wonderful! All of us that haunt thrift shops and antique fairs hope for just such an outcome….

I know someone who mines thrift stores and makes up to $20k per year re-selling books and clothing she buys in a bag for $5 per visit. Basically a daily junk store junkie who turns it into cash. (Also rents storage space for all the junk she doesn’t sell.)

Years ago a friend of mine and I went to a bankruptcy sale for a jewelry and loose gem company held at their warehouse in Los Angeles. They handed out smallish cardboard boxes for people to put their loot in and sold everything by weight.

My container was full of sterling silver jewelry and semi-precious gems like the quartz varieties, especially amethysts. As I recall, it cost me $15. My friend and I were so surprised at what we were able to purchase for such small prices that we came back the following weekend and bought more.

I was giving out birthday and Christmas gifts from that haul for a couple of years.

Mornin’ All. Hot and humid. I think it rained last night. My friend and I got a lot done yesterday. But, I don’t see how I can get all of it done in a week. I am not sure my son can even get here with the airline industry such a mess with all the cancellations. Well, I just need to keep plugging along. Have a nice day.

Is Loki doing better? No more “accidents”?

Yeah. I think part of the problem was that I was stressing out and she was picking up on that along with moving things around in the apartment. Since I settled down a little bit, you know, after I got the apartment in Montana, she seems much calmer too. I started to stress out over flying, too, and when I made the decision not to fly at all, I again calmed down. Also, it is much easier to give her a pill than that liquid antibiotic. She is sleeping peacefully right now.

Well mom, I’ve concluded that my flying days are over! No clot shot or mask for me! Time to leave the skies period. This country needs to hit rock bottom! We NEED our DEITY that some decided we don’t want! To this day, I get on my knees and ask forgiveness! The powers that be DO NOT determine my faith! These progressive libtards can take their rules and regulations and shove them where the sun don’t shine, sideways! Am I being bitter? NO just honest!

I had almost made that decision myself before all this started happening. Now I just don’t want anything to do with flying.

I would like to travel by train. But for a long trip I would need a compartment of some kind. Even just overnight is a little rough.

I took the Empire Builder from Chicago to Portland, then back from Seattle to Chicago. I had a small compartment on the way back – what they call a ‘roomette’. Private and a bed, but no bath. Meals included.

There are shared toilets in the sleeping car (like what they have on airplanes) and shared showers on the lower level of the car.

That is what would work for me, I think. I believe to get to Montana, I would have to go to NY and then across from there. It would be a very long trip,.

You are right. I once looked into taking the train from Detroit to Florida. It involved a 12 hour layover in D.C. Not good. The Empire Builder goes through Montana, btw.

The nicest Amtrak route is the one from Chicago to Oakland, CA. The scenery in Colorado and west is just wonderful. I haven’t taken the entire trip, but have taken the part from Denver to Glenwood Springs, CO in both directions. Highly recommend. That is the California Zephyr.

Would dearly love to make a “lap around America” by rail! Maybe work that in with seeing the Northern Lights somehow, LOL!

I don’t know if they still offer it, but Amtrak used to have something similar to the rail pass that they have in Europe. I gave that trip to my daughter when she graduated high school, and she and her best friend went on an adventure. They could travel unlimited for a period of 60 days (I think that’s right) and make two stopovers for a ridiculously low fare. It was coach, but they were 18! They traveled from Detroit to San Bernadino, CA, then took the bus to L.A. Continued travel to Eugene, OR, then back to Detroit. I thought it would be safer than a bus trip (and I was right about that.)

It’s different now, but still reasonably priced. Only 30 days, though.

If you travel coach, be sure to book a lower level seat on double-deck cars. There is no through traffic, and the bathrooms are on the lower level.

Good afternoon, aus! Don’t envy you re packing. It’s not so much the putting items in boxes, but wrapping things u securely so they won’t break is an obsession of mine. I think I’m borderline OCD anyway and have worried myself sick to the point of some fragile pieces of antique furniture was simply given to friends or a thrift shop because I was so afraid they would get broken. Yeah, crazy.

Glad your darling Loki is doing better. They do so pick up on our stress. Sometimes when I get out of a chair and let out a yelp because of some pain or discomfort, Gee runs for cover. LOL!

If I were still a traveling gal, I’d love to go to NYC and see this apartment…and if I had the money I’d buy it. Yeah, it’s overpriced like everything real estate in NYC, but I love the 20’s decoration and have lots of my own stuff which would look great there.

This is what it was like to live in New York City 100 years ago…

    Excellent column by Don Surber

A country its leaders do not live in

. . . But in Washington, where no one ever gets laid off and no one has to go to work if it snows, the show is the talk of the town. The rest of the country has to work today. DC closed for Juneteenth.
    . . .

The great divide in America is not between lefties and righties. The divide is between the governed and the government.

There is an election on November 8. Chickens won’t be coming home to roost. Eagles will arrive, talons up.

Newt Gingrich sees 75 House seats flipping Republican — which would be his party’s best showing in 128 years. This only works if you flush about half those 200 or so sitting Republican congressmen down the commode with their Democrat pals. We found that out in 2010 when Republicans threw away their Tea Party victory like Biden threw away Afghanistan.
