To of my favorite “crazy hair” birds. Mornin’all ya’all! Coolish and slightly damp here on the back porch. No purple martins cam to live here this year, I think I missed the timeframe to get the houses up when I was out of town. A few are circling around but they should be at their doors singing the morning song for us.

Mornin’ All. It was 80* when I went to bed last night. And, it is 75* this morning. The love bugs have moved in and are all over. I don’t think this is the worst of it yet, though. The large white duck has evidently picked out a mate, a smaller brown duck, I can’t remember what they are called. But, he is having to fight for her. She tried to go off with another male and his two females and the white duck kept getting in her way. Wonder what their babies will look like. Well, have a nice day. Uh oh, I just heard the weather guesser, and it sounds like some people are going to have some storms.

The duck saga sounds like a nice diversion. We have had love bugs for a few days, and the white smeary stuff on windshields which can be best removed with flat Coke. The year I was painting the inside doors I had to move everything into the garage because they kept sticking to the wet paint.

I found a love bug in my bathtub last night. You just open the door and they swoop in.

It was good. But now it is summer in the coastal south. 88* feels like 90*. And the lawn must be mowed every 5 days. And the clothes take three times as long to dry on the clothesline.

What are your local birds?

In winter, mainly chickadees; spring/summer bring a winged invasion. Among others, Mountain blue birds [and more reccently Western too], Says phoebes and lots of meadowlarks; robins, blackbirds and waaay too many sparrows eating the chickens’ feed. We have mourning dove and quail as well.
Raptors (bald eagles, hawks, vultures)…ravens and magpies, too.

I didn’t know this was going on – and in a town very close to me! I truly hope that this is stopped in my state, and anywhere else in the USA that it is happening.
