Ah yes, Spring has sprung! Trees are in bud and the geese are heading north! Next up will be the peeper frogs and morel mushrooms. For me this is the best time of the year! Everything is coming back to life. The winter snooze is all but over. Lets hope for no heavy frosts!

Mornin’ Wee, Pa, and everyone. It finally rained a little yesterday afternoon and then last night. I didn’t collect much water in my rain gauge. It was 62* when I took Loki for her walk this morning and 66* when I got back after a few minutes. So the sun is doing its job. Not much interesting news from here. I did find out why the trash was being left in my trash can outside. I put it in a trash bag, seal it up, put it in the can and put the lid on it. They guy who picks it up doesn’t take the lid off. However, my neighbors’ trash which is right next to mine and was piled up, some in loose bags and some just loose, and he got all of that. I called to him because I went out and checked after he walked by and he came back and got it, but I guess he just figured there was nothing in my can because the lid was on it or something. Not many people can put the lid on their because they have too much in it. Anyway, with that exciting news I will sign out for now. Hope your days are nice.

Mornin’ all, sunny to start the day temps in the mid 40’s, gonna maybe touch 50 then head down to possible snow showers, low in the mid 30’s, by tomorrow morning. Don’t mind a light frost, Mother Nature is pretty hardy, just don’t want that deep freeze this late. Kinda ruins the beauty of Spring.

I am trying to get ahead of spring and have determined that I’m going to attempt to grow some seedings that will be transplantable when the whether outside warms up.

Long story short, I need to keep the kittehs out of the seedling and czarina gave me a great idea of using chicken wire, but alas, I didn’t have any small holed chicken wire and alas, I couldn’t find the microwave stand that I thought I still had.

So, new plan. I have a plant stand that I made years ago and I think I can modify it to work as the frame for a small growing space BUT, I was still back to the dilemma that I didn’t have any way to let the sun in and keep the kittehs out……SO..I decided that netting would work, right? Well, yeah, I didn’t have any netting, I have more string than any person should have and I thought, well, I can make my own netting right? I mean seriously, I asked myself,”How hard could it be?”

And that dear Stellarites is how I find myself tying my 900th million knot today while wondering if I’ll be done by next winter, let along this spring…but I am determined to grow something…so we shall see. :0)

Three years ago I did a makeshift seed starting station on my slate covered sideboard, which is up against a large window. I used cardboard panels taped together to keep the cat out, and used wine bottles to prop up my grow lights.

Not a great solution and the cat only got a couple of tomato seedlings! Now I have my little table top greenhouse. It also keeps the heat and humidity in, so that is a plus.

Another thing I have used outside (but it would work inside too), is a large clear storage box turned upside down over the plants. Quick, easy, and fairly inexpensive.

I just used a clear underbed storage box as a humidity dome over my seeds while they were sprouting.
