Mornin’ all. Great to wake up in my own bed this morning. It is a gray day and may rain, but it is nice to be home. I can’t pick up Loki until 4:00 this afternoon. I sure have missed her, especially since I got home. Hope you all are having good weather and staying warm.

Mornin’, all. Our Favorite Sunday Columnist takes a backhand to “The Newspaper of Record”, and their belated acknowledgement of the legitimacy of Hunter’s laptop. Coffee’s on its way. Enjoy.

I try to catch her articles in The Pipeline as well. Always insightful. I’ll bet she would be a hoot to hang out with for an afternoon over a bottle of wine or a couple beers.

Looks like Kamala doesn’t need any hatin’ from our side. She has plenty to worry about from the home team. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch. Love watchin’ them eat their own.

My notes on Birx and Redfield from RFK’s book. There’s plenty more, but this will give you a taste of who they are –
“Redfield and Birx were former Army medical officers who, in the 1980’s and 1990’s, led the military AIDS research…..an Air Force medical office accused Redfield of engaging in “a systematic pattern of data manipulation, inappropriate statistical analyses and misleading data presentation”…..A specially convened Air Force tribunal on scientific fraud and misconduct concluded that Redfield’s misleading, or possibly, deceptive information seriously threatens his credibility”……Redfield confessed to angry DOD interrogators and to the tribunal that his analyses were faulty and misleading………. (page 281)
Yet, he went on to thumb his nose at the DOD. A whole lot more. A lot of political chicanery as these two have been tied to Fauci for many, many years.

Mrs. T reports our first humbird of the season. Late again this year. Last year, the big freeze threw everything off, and it’s been a bit colder than normal this year as well. For several years, their arrival date was either 3/14 or 3/15, depending on whether it was Leap Year or not.

FINAL IDITAROD UPDATE
As the rest of the country turns to spring today, Alaska continues to be the bastion of winter. The Red Lantern finally arrived in Nome just before midnight last night, and the Widow’s Lamp was extinguished for another year. Iditarod 50 is done. Thirty-seven teams completed the run from Anchorage to Nome, and all have arrived in time for the Musher’s Banquet where awards will be distributed.
Of great interest to me was a 47-minute video for Iditarod Insiders of a post race interview with Bridgett Watkins, mostly about the massive storm that caused her and five other mushers to have to scratch after White Mountain. It was a life-and-death situation for six people and 58 dogs. The hurricane-force winds and severe cold caused frostbite and hypothermia, and if they had not been rescued they would all have frozen to death. It is an incredible tale that is chilling to hear recounted. Through it all, Bridgett’s sunny and optimistic outlook prevails, and she will be back to run the race again, and hopefully make it all the way to Nome the next time.
After I have rambled on about dog mushing for the last two weeks, most of you are probably worn out with the subject. But if you want to know more, or just want to read one of the funniest books ever written, I highly recommend Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod by Gary Paulsen. It is thigh-slapping, foot-stomping, tear-streaming, side-holding funny. Paulsen ran Iditarod in 1983 (finished 41st out of 54 teams) and in 2006 (scratched).
Hope you all have a great week, and Happy Spring!

Mornin’ all ya’all! Great day to cut brush and vines.
Buyer is doing final walkthrough of my house in NO today, with closing on Wed. She and her realtor are unrealistically picky, but I hope the rise on interest rates will keep her from asking for more concessions. So far she’s asked for everything but for me to come monthly and mop the floors and clean the gutters
