Mornin’ All. Very humid and warm here. They decided to put in a whole new heat pump instead of fiving this one again. So, they plan to come tomorrow to install it. I still have the window air conditioner in my bedroom.
My friend took her dog to the vet and couple of weeks or may a week ago and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. Her cheek was swollen right under her eye and she was coughing more and more. They gave her an antibiotic and sent her home. They said the swelling was probably a bug bite. She had always had a knot there under her eye. But it swelled up and then it seemed to spread. I was sure it wasn’t a bite. Well, she finally called the ASPCA, where she has connections. Their appts are months out, but she donates a LOT of money and so they got her in. The dog has a prolapsed throat (I think that is what they called it) that caused the coughing and probably a cracked tooth that caused the swelling. Another antibiotic and some cough meds and she was good to go. So far she has spent about $1,000 on her little doggie. I can’t believe the first vet who ran all kinds of tests, etc. couldn’t find the throat problem, it seemed pretty obvious the way the ASPCA vet explained it. Anyway, to get the tooth cleaning and check that back tooth will be between $700 and $900. Glad she isn’t my dog. But, at least my friend can manage it.
Well, hope everyone is managing. I am hearing about the costs of heating oil up north.

My last dog, Stella, cost me an arm and a leg. So much, that I now have pet insurance (which probably adds up to the same thing.)
Other than the normal stuff, Stella had her teeth cleaned twice and some removed, knee surgery, eye surgery (by a specialist) and treatment for kidney failure (very expensive). The eye surgeon actually removed an abscessed tooth while she was under anesthesia as well as removing a tumor on her eyeball!
So far Tucker hasn’t had anything fixed or removed.

In coastal MS and in NO we saw $3.89 to $4.23 today.

Has anybody noticed a downward trend in their retirement account? Mine has reduced $30,000 in value since January 1.

Took all my IRA money and put it into a state backed annuity. Has a guaranteed return and result at the end of 5 years. My skills with the market are awful.

Mine is in a 401K plan. If I take it all out I will owe the Feds a bunch of taxes.

No, there are places for 401Ks other than the stock market. Talk to your banker.

I understand that. Much of my investment is in bonds. The thing is that the more risk you take, the more you make when times are good. I complained about the value today, but I made good money every year for the past four years.
