Cold 32* and very windy this morning in coastal MS, currently 61* and sunny in Charlotte NC. Enjoying the white rocking chairs in the central lobby, with a 3 hour layover. I’m amazed at what people wear when they fly now! One well toned woman came by with very short gym shorts and a sleeveless loose top over sports bra. Jeans seem the primary clothing preference for most travelers. Most people are wearing jackets, which seems sensible cause it is rather cool in here.

Joke of the day.
I actually kept my mammogram appointment.
I was met with, “Hi! I’m Belinda!”
This perky clipboard carrier smiled from ear to ear, tilted her head to one side and crooned, “All I need you to do is step into this room right here, strip to the waist, then slip on this gown. Everything clear?”
I’m thinking, “Belinda, try decaf. This ain’t rocket science.”
Belinda skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors.
With the right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and said, “Hmmmm. Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so we can get everything?’
“Fine,” I answered.
I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck and finish me off? My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other boob wedged between those two 4 inch pieces of square glass) when we heard, then felt a zap! Complete darkness and the power went off!
“Oh, maintenance is working. Bet they hit a snag.” Belinda headed for the door.
“Excuse me! You’re not leaving me in this vise alone are you?” I shouted.
Belinda kept going and said, “Oh, you.. Don’t worry… The door’s wide open, so you’ll have the emergency hall lights. I’ll be right back.”
Before I could shout “NOOOO!” she disappeared.
And that’s exactly how Leon and Earl, maintenance men extraordinaire, found me, half-naked and part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life and the other part smashed between glass!
After exchanging polite “Hi, how’s it going?” type greetings, Leon (or possibly Earl) asked, to my utter disbelief, if I knew the power was off.
Trying to disguise my hysteria, I replied with as much calm as possible “Uh, yes, yes I did thanks.”!
“You bet, take care” Leon replied and waved good-bye as though I’d been standing in the line at the grocery store.
Exactly 72 minutes later (I was watching clock between sobs), Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin and making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said, “Oh I am sooo sorry! The power came back on, and I totally forgot about you! And silly me, I went to lunch. Are we upset?”
And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the clamps……..

As a member of the jury, I would find her not guilty! The last time I went through that, many years ago, I had an inch wide bruise around my breast and was sore for months. Besides, I am not totally convinced that irradiating it every year doesn’t actually encourage cancer. My doctor here finally sent me to have an ultra sound. No problemo, didn’t hurt and was not scary.

Oh my. Bad timing for me to read, my mammogram appt is tomorrow. And we’re currently having heavy snow and ice, which causes more power outages. Sigh.

Mornin’ Wee, Pa, and everyone. Overcast and misty here at 73*. I ran into a woman I know who has lived in her apt here for 20 years. She has a one bedroom upstairs apt. Yesterday she renewed her lease for another year. They increased her rent $80 a month plus water. She doesn’t know how much the water will add to what she has to pay. It seems to me that they should have already figured out how much they were going to charge for water. We don’t have meters on each apt. or even each building. So, they said they would figure it by sq.ft. in the apt. and how many people live there. Yeah, great. My lease isn’t up until July. So, I have some time. Oh, and she hates DeSantis for encouraging all these Northerners, especially NYorkers to come down here. LOL. All you Northerners have a nice day. 🙂

Mom, ready to move to Montana yet? (Is it Montana, or Wyoming?)
Would be hard to leave FL climate, but the air is so fresh in cold country…sanitized every night, one might say!

Still downsizing. Hope to leave in June and I am actually looking forward to it. Winter in Florida is about 2 months, Spring is 2 days, Fall is another 2 days and the rest is SUMMER. And, I can’t take the heat. Besides, I’ve got grand babies, 2, 4, and 6.

Mornin’ mom. My water bill is about $75 every 3 months. I am only one person and don’t use much water.
We got a few inches of snow – actually rain, then snow – yesterday, and the temp dropped quite a bit. It’s only 19 degrees now.
