   Before Hurricane Katrina in NewOrleans, the school board meetings became a total mess because a woman wanted power and attention, and certain changes in curriculum, to the point of rendering every meeting useless . She was disruptive and could not be removed most of 5e time because she followed the rules right on the edge. Katrina ran her out of town and she never came back (newspaper article showed her somewhere in the Carolinas I think, not up to her old level). Seems school board meetings can go both ways.

     The president of our school board (when I was in high school) went to prison for embezzlement. His son was in my grade.
