“Lower your expectations” this Thanksgiving

I ordered my fresh local turkey a few weeks ago, but it isn’t cheap either. I have been squirreling away some foods in my freezers and pantry, so our family won’t go hungry.

Over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go!!!!! (That’s the first song that I learned in kindergarten.) Unfortunately, with the price for gas being between $3 and $4 per gallon, depending on where you live, that will be more expensive too.

For those of you who are old enough, doesn’t this remind you of the Carter years? Get out your sweaters!

One food I would certainly miss is potatoes. I recently ordered a supply of dried potatoes – both sliced and mashed. Don’t forget to stock up on flour and other baking supplies!

Actually, several years we had pork marinated in Cuban spices, and it is wonderful. Might just do that this year!
