The granite peaks are in the Patagonian Andes. The photo-center peaks comprise Mount Fitz Roy.

The entire Patagonian area is one place I’d really love to visit. So incredibly beautiful and remote.

Mornin’ Lucille, everyone. Nice day here. Sunny and humid, but comfortable. Hm. The news seems to be a retread of yesterday’s news. Meeting my friend for breakfast again this morning. Oh, and my wasp stings are better, but itching like crazy today. I hope I can find my Benadryl cream. Well, have a nice day. I hear it may soon snow in the NorthWest. 😯

Good afternoon, aus! Glad the stings are healing…now if the healing could just speed up a bit!
Weatherwise we’re coolish but sunny. I just looked up the weather for September 21st last year. And though it seems a lot colder to me today than last year, it’s just my imagination since the difference is only 1-2 degrees. It’d be great if we had the same type of winter as last year because for our area it had relatively low snowfall…please, please, please!

Lucille, thank you for the upbeat music. 2Cellos has definitely changed the way that instrument is viewed. Terrific that musicians of that caliber can be appreciated and prosper by expanding their repertoire and presentation.
Auscitizenmom, glad those stings are somewhat better. I didn’t know about Benadryl cream. Sounds like a good thing to have on hand.
The photos from the castle in Scotland are beautiful in summer. Winter? It makes you appreciate how sturdy the inhabitants had to be in order to survive. Including living inside those stone walls, with only limited diets, limited light, no running water and fireplaces for heat.

You’re welcome, Reflection. Luka, the fellow on the viewer’s right, is just living a normal life despite the fame. He’s married with three little children whom he adores and a darling wife. During the Balkans pandemic lockdown he often worked out of his home in Slovenia.

Had to take a break from the drudgery today, so I thought I’d post an art picture, which I really miss doing.
Here is ‘An Old Cornish Manor’ By Stanhope Forbes, 1935. This looks like that wonderful September time of year when some trees and flora are starting to turn color, and the air is so clear you delight in breathing in that perfect cool but not cold air while looking at the glorious blue sky.
“Stanhope Alexander Forbes 1857 –1947 was a British artist and a founding member of the influential Newlyn school of painters. He was often called ‘the father of the Newlyn School’.
He was Educated at Dulwich College. After a period of poor health Forbes was removed from Dulwich College, and studied under private teachers in Brussels. This afforded additional time to draw. After the end of the Franco-Prussian War, the Forbes family returned to London. John Sparkes helped influence William Forbes to recognize his son’s artistic talent, Stanhope Forbes then attended Lambeth School of Art. By 1878 he attended the Royal Academy under Sir Frederic Leighton and Sir John Millais.
Forbes returned to Ireland for a few months to visit Dr Andrew Melville, family friend and Queen’s College professor. While there the men shared their appreciation of art and Forbes painted landscapes of the Galway area. He also received his first commission for a portrait. Back in London, at the age of 18, he received another commission for a portrait of a doctor’s daughter, Florence. It was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1879. He then studied in Paris from 1880 to 1882. In 1881 Forbes went to Cancale, Brittany and painted en plein air which became a technique that Forbes used throughout his career.
Having completed his studies in France, Forbes returned to London, and showed works he made in Brittany at the 1883 Royal Academy and Royal Hibernian Academy shows. In 1884 he moved to Newlyn in Cornwall, and soon became a leading figure in the growing colony of artists. The artist colony received national attention with the Royal Academy exhibition of Forbes works in 1885.
In 1892 Forbes became an Associate of the Royal Academy. Forbes was the founding chairman and trustee of the Newlyn Art Gallery beginning in 1895. Forbes and his wife founded the Newlyn Art School in 1899. The Newlyn area had experienced an economic downturn as the result of failing fishing, mining and farming industries. The school helped to bring an economic resurgence to the area by encouraging individuals to vacation in the area and study and practice art.
In 1910 Forbes was elected a Royal Academician. Forbes became a member of the St Ives Society of Artists in 1928. In 1933 he was made a Senior Royal Academician.” ~ from wikipedia

Thank you Czarina 🙂 Good to hear you are doing well – I pop in to lurk when resting. Any more photos of your lovely flowers or furry friends? You have a much longer growing season than up here. Coming back from my annual physical I just saw a few trees have already turned color!
BTW, This is the 1st time in about the 8 years I’ve been going to this doctor that during the cognitive test part of my physical they have NOT asked who the President of the United States is. I’m guessing the poor nurse that does the physicals has been getting an earful!

Yes, I am also affected by the color, light, composition and subject of paintings. Even if we’ve never seen a house with a wall like that, it can give a “feeling”, perhaps a “memory” of our past experiences. Even though the memories may be divergent among us, the feeling evoked can bring us together. By the paintings I choose I hope to bring happy &/or calming thoughts to all. Some number of years ago when I started doing this, it was our dear Lucille’s beautiful postings that had such a positive effect on me that it inspired me to try and spread beauty, calm and joy through paintings.

After brunch today we went to see Cry Macho with Clint Eastwood. I loved it. There were a couple of slow spots in the movie, but not many. There were scenes that reminded me of when Eastwood played Rowdy Yates when he was young. And, I was worried that we wouldn’t be happy with any ending they came up with. Nope. We were happy.

We keep hearing how they’re going to make us eat meatless meat and crazy stuff like that. Here’s how they will do it. Spoiler alert……….they’ll make it so expensive that us common folk won’t be able to afford it. The good news is that I’m old enough they probably won’t get me.

I’m lucky to have a cattle farmer living directly behind us. I’m sure he would share a bit of his meat. We all need to learn to barter our skills.
