Love it!!! Although not on my property! Czar said the excrement of fowl is well, foul. He had trouble with Canadian geese leavings when running on the grounds of Ft Meade when stationed there for Desert Storm in 1990-91.

In the Chicago area, many property managers use Border Collies to chase off the fowl, particularly Canada geese. We have them all over industrial parks, zoos etc.

As the mother of three boys I can tell you without a scrap of doubt this is true. Grandsons appear to be mostly headed in that direction also, especially the youngest two. Family nicknames for them are War and Pestilence. They are big pals. One of their dads says it is because they operate on the same level of savagery.

I’ve never heard that. Sounds good. I used to buy beets as much to get the greens as for the beets. I love beet greens, find them much tastier than most other greens.

Beet greens are my favorite too. Whenever I buy fresh beets, I look for the nicest greens. One time at the farmer’s market, a farmer offered me all the greens that I wanted, since most people asked him to cut them off the bunches of fresh beets. That was a few years ago now, so I imagine that more people realize that the greens are good to eat.

We grew beets in the garden, and knew beet greens were good. Put them in hot salad (chard, celery, greens, a bit of olive oil, stir fried with garlic and soy).

I usually stir fry mine with olive oil and garlic, then finish them with an acid – balsamic vinegar, lemon juice or pomegranate molasses.

Very different product. Pomegranate molasses is basically concentrated Pomegranate juice. Acid and sweet, and can be used interchangeably with balsamic vinegar.

So, sweet potato leaves are another edible leafy green. Thanks Stella. They are slightly bitter raw, but sweeter when boiled. Sweet potatoe belong to the morning glory family. They are NOT to be confused with Irish potato leaves which are toxic, and are part of the nighshade family.
You can easily grow a sample, to taste. Remember the “potato vine” project? Works with sweet potatoes too.

That’s one way. Another is to plant beet seeds thickly in a planter, then harvest them as baby greens. Cut and come again!

My friend and mentor, Heritage Foundation founder Ed Feulner has always said that in the war of ideas there is no room for pacifists. Even more so in a cultural war.
Why do so few conservatives get that? The left does. That’s why it is winning….
Here’s my point. The Trump movement — not necessarily even Trump himself — is a welcome and so needed rallying cry against the radicalization of the left and their ridiculous causes — whether it’s transgender bathrooms, climate change fanaticism, 80 percent tax rates on anyone who is successful, free college tuition for illegal immigrants, or whatever the latest liberal grievance is. The other day the leftists protested in Chicago against a billionaire hedge fund manager for not paying his “fair share” of taxes. This is a man who has given $500 million to Chicago area arts, schools, and charities.
I almost laugh out loud when I see anti-Trumpers on the right say: “he doesn’t share our conservative values.” I feel like screaming: Don’t you get it. The left has been assaulting our conservative values without serious opposition for decades. We’ve been like the French in the two world wars, just folding as the Germans march right into Paris. Those “conservative values” have been run over by liberal tanks. By joining the leftists against Trump brigades, you’re aiding and abetting the people who were driving the vehicle. I even see there is now a Republicans for Hillary movement. Don’t let the door hit you on your fannies on the way out of the party….

Our side sees what happens when we get put in jail, and the other guys get a pass. We have to retake a whole bunch of things before this will get sorted out properly. If not, it’s going to be very bloody, very soon. The left has shown they have no compunction to beat us physically.

I would definitely prefer a really good brownie to the “scrubbie cake”. It was the creativity that interested me. Trompe L’oeil is sometimes disconcerting when it comes to food.
I would like to try the potato vine experiment, however, just to taste the leaf.
Politics and trust are words that have gone from an unhappy marriage straight to the divorce court. What other line of work would allow you to agree to legally binding documents without reading them, and then claiming exemption for the consequences?
We’ve gone from soup to “nutz” today. 😉
