The Tyger
William Blake – 1757-1827
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare sieze the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And water’d heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,

His artworks are a tad too strange, though…

He was a big influence on the 1950’s and 60’s writers/poets/musicians. The art/mysticism fits the general symbolism of the periods.

Good morning, WeeWeed! That’s the reason I used the image of “Starry Night” as it hangs on MOMA’s walls…online there are so many images with changes in the scenery that I couldn’t tell which depiction was real. Your illustration couldn’t be mistaken, of course…LOL!
Poor Van Gogh…the starry night was what he observed night after night from his room at the asylum. The village was his creation, however.

It’s one of my favs, too. To think it was not sold prior to his death…only after when his sister-in-law and widow of his brother, Theo, began to promote the works. If it hadn’t been for her tenacity, who knows what his reputation would be today.

Mornin’ Lucille, everyone. Sunny, humid, but sort of nice here. It is allll the way down to 77*. As soon as I cool off from our walk, I have to get changed to go to breakfast and I have a couple of errands to do before then. Still no movies on that we want to see so it is back to my apt to play cards. Pray for Larry Elder to win Gov in CA. Have a nice day.

I prefer pecans, but my brother takes after my mother in his preferences, and he asked for the bread.

For years I had to leave nuts out of breads and brownies. My son would gag on them and almost throw up, which was truly weird, because he love nuts, just not in things. LOL. I have the same problem with chocolate covered raisins. I feel like I am eating chocolate covered bugs. Of course my son outgrew his problem. LOL

I really don’t like soft foods with hard nuts in them. Other than butter pecan ice cream. I won’t turn down foods with nuts in them either.

Exactly! Let’s see if any military leader comes forward to defend Milley.
I watched about a half hour of the hearing yesterday where Blinken testified. During that short time I heard him indicate that the military was in charge of closing Bagram. And, of course, “the military” means Milley. Frankly, I think Blinken may be right on this. And now that Milley’s calls reveal he’s favorable toward China, maybe he also told them he was going to close the base and it would be open for China’s use. Far-fetched, perhaps, but that’s what came to my mind.
