Good morning, aus! Lovely day here but I’ll be inside sorting out my jewelry collection for items to give to my nieces and nephews. These were all items I wore when I was still working and was also going out a lot in the evenings and on weekends. Nowadays a good percentage of the rings don’t fit my fingers because of arthritis. And many necklaces have just been in my jewelry cabinets unworn for eons because of no place to wear them.

Other items like books, CDs, shoes and clothes I think the family wouldn’t be interested in are going to the animal rescue thrift shop. Now all I need to do is remind my neighbors that they promised to take the stuff to the thrift shop for me.

        Have a lovely day!

Hi, Lucille! I recently did that with my daughter. Of course all of my jewelry will go to her when I die, but I thought she might appreciate having some of it now. Our tastes aren’t the same, but there were some pieces that she was happy to have.

I do have quite a few gold pieces, and she prefers silver, but they should get a good price for the metal value!

Good afternoon, Stella! It’s such fun to give people jewelry items while we’re still around and they can us photos of what everything looks like when wearing them.

My sister’s family is huge. So in my will I plan to request that what items have not yet gone to them before my passing should all go to my oldest nephew’s care and for him to have a party where they can pick out what they want from the jewelry, artworks and household items. He loves to entertain; so that should be fun for him to set up.

Great clip, Lucille. Lovely rendition of Foggy Mountain and very talented family. They reminded me of the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys, 3 brothers. Here is them doing Foggy Mountain some years ago when they were (I think) 9, 12, and 14:

They have a number of other good vids up on YouTube.

Mornin’ All. Hot, humid, and sunny. The news of the aftermath of the storm is terrible. All the news is terrible. I have to go now. I have to take a friend to pick up her car and I need to fix breakfast and then take a shower. So, later Gators.

My comments on facial skin care. As I got older, I experienced more problems with facial skin redness and rosacea, as well as itching. I have used Clinique moisturizers and skin care ingredients for years. Recently I tried a new moisturizer – one you can buy in the drugstore at a reasonable price – and I have had fantastic results. It is Cetaphil Redness Relieving Night Moisturizer. It contains (among other ingredients) licorice root, which reduces skin redness. I use it for both day and night moisturizing. One note: it doesn’t contain sunscreen.

I also ran across this woman (she’s a dermatologist) who has a number of videos about various skin products, skin types etc. Here’s just one:

The chemical name for licorice in the moisturizer is Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate.

      Dipotassium glycyrrhizate
      * Botanical Ingredient * * A salt derived from the licorice plant. Also known as licorice root extract.

This skin conditioning agent works to improve the appearance of dry/damaged skin by reducing flaking and restoring suppleness, and also functions as an anti-irritant with anti-inflammatory and skin soothing capabilities. In fact, clinical tests point to the ingredient as an effective treatment for atopic dermatitis.
