    The other day some commentator mentioned the chest full of ribbons and medals on General Milley’s uniform…

    All who are awarded medals/ribbons are entitled to properly wear them, of course. Nothing wrong with that. I did find an interesting article, however, wherein the author suggests that perhaps they could be separately worn with “participation” awards on the wearer’s right and “heroism” awards on the left.

    This photo shows Eisenhower’s wartime use of 3 ribbons versus Petraeus’ wartime use of his many awards. Eisenhower never saw combat, through no fault of his own. Petraeus was in combat with the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq.

    Another wartime photo of Eisenhower showing a full display of his ribbons; so apparently he felt it proper to wear or not wear all his awards depending on the occasion…

    Mornin’ All. Sunny, 79* and humid here. Normal. Praying for all the people, especially Czarina, who are in the path of that storm. It sounds very bad for New Orleans. Well, hope the rest of you all have a nice day. :\

      Good afternoon, aus! It’s sunny here, too…68 out there right now, heading to 78. An altogether pleasant day. I’m awaiting a Walmart delivery of breakfast cereal–I’m addicted to Kashi products. It’s been in the delivery pipeline for several days and I’m hoping it’s not all squished to a powder.

    Among the many winners of the Biden administration’s failure in Afghanistan and takeover of the country by the Taliban, are the mullahs of Iran’s regime. The assumption that Iran and the Taliban are not allies because one is Shia and the other is Sunni, is woefully inaccurate.

      Boarded up the windows, grabbed a couple of roast beef po-boys, and entered the 5 hour creep of traffic evacuating from NO to the east. What should have taken 1 1/2 hours! Storm is landing just east of Houma, to the southwest of the NO house, with Cat 4 winds, which will reach out in the area of my house, but be mitigated by distance. The worst will come from the east, which is the garage wall mostly, and some windows we boarded up. The neighbor’s house will also provide some protection. As Ida moves north, winds will shift to come from the south which means two huge trees in my back yard (which have stood for probably 100 years, through several bad hurricanes) will lessen the force of the wind on the house. Branches from the live oak might fall and damage the house.
