HAPPY FENCE FRIDAY…

Tybee Island, GA…

“Good fences make good neighbors.” – Robert Frost

Lucille, see that little covered swing hidden by the dune? I’m in it, tomorrow. Sure does look like Tybee Island, but I’m sure there are many beaches with the same walkways and swings. We aren’t going to Tybee this time, another island, this one in Florida. Sure need some beach time.
For a mountain loving Tennessee gal, I probably could happily live by the ocean, at least a few months a year. If the grandkids were there too.

I love the hypnotic sound of the waves. I spent many childhood hours rocking on an inner tube in the water off Miami’s beaches.

Good afternoon, Menagerie. That’s the thing I miss the most about living in Los Angeles…you’re just minutes from the beach. A goodly portion of my time there was spent living in West Los Angeles, right across from the Santa Monica city line, or in Santa Monica itself. The first year I lived in West L.A. which would have been around 1969-70, I went to the beach every weekend, rain (very seldom) or shine (most days).
Photos taken at the time showed I had the most glorious tan which looked so terrific with a white outfit and my then near-black hair which was worn in sort of a pixie cut. Put on a pair of silver dangly earrings and I was ready for a fun time with or without my significant other.
Oh, those were the days!

Thanks Lucille, great interview.

You’re welcome, Menagerie! Friends who have attended various Hollywood gatherings where Voight was a guest say he is a sweetheart; always gracious and without that show biz “you must look at me” attitude.

Mornin’ romance lovers!

Ah Wee. Gone are the days of discretely placed bodice rippers in grocery stores, replaced now by full on porn on the picture rags and mags. People don’t even read bodice rippers anymore, they can only digest a line or two under pictures.
Good morning!

Oh yeah, although like czar and czarina, I came to view those great big ones that make huge webs in the fall as neighbors, when we lived in the cabin. In my experience, the big guys stay put, it’s those little buggers you gotta watch.

My grandmother was a teenager back about 1900 was out in the garden in her long dress with all 6 of her petticoats under it, when she saw a spider on her. She stripped everything she had on and ran back to the house buck naked.

Good day to you, WeeWeed! Currently being obsessed with “Gone With the Wind” for the umpteenth time, I’ll offer this as a romance (albeit a rather dysfunctional one; still it was powerful)….

I love the illustration. It is charming depiction of male observation versus female imagination.
.
You are right, there is very little pure romance left. Oh, it lingers in the longing of the human heart, but now most of the romance novels must be run through the grist mill of feminism.
.
Current romance novels still contain an element of the “damsel in distress”. Yet today’s largely independent heroines do find in harrowing circumstances, it’s good to have a handsome and competent man around. Romantic thrillers have almost overtaken the market.
.
And, after she has proven her independence, and he, his worth, then of course, dalliance and more may commence!
.
And isn’t that the core of romance novels then and now?
(Congratulations on your new car Stella!)

Not clear, didn’t see a problem from my side. Comments appear on both the Open Thread and the Presidential from shortly after midnight.

Mornin’ all ya’all! Busy day ahead. Going for my hearing aid fitting then picking up GGS. Later, need to take a load to the dump and mow.

Mornin’ All. Weather here is the same as it was yesterday, and will be tomorrow, I am sure. 🙄
We might get some rain this afternoon. Maybe, maybe not. I’m not sure what I am going to do today. I have a few things to finish up. Wish I could have spent it with my granddaughters since today is one’s birthday and tomorrow is the other one’s B-day. They have two separate parties so it is a two day celebration. They have already sent pictures of today’s party. Smiles all round. 😀
Have a nice day.

Mornin’ mom. Rain here most of the day it looks like. Temps are cool (high 60’s). I have to take a trip to the car dealer to pick up my new car mats, and I need them today. Forgot to mention – I leased a new car this week. A Kia Seltos in dark ocean blue. I have been without a car for a long time now, so this is very exciting.

No, but I’m going to set up a donation and get it picked up early next week. Do you have any particular charity you would recommend?

Maybe meals on wheels or something local?

There are several local that will pick up a car, running or not. I’ll review and see which one appeals to me.
