JUST IN: Ted Cruz Celebrates Failure Of Democrats’ Voting Reform Bill In Senate

Good speech which includes some of the more egregious proposals in the “Voting Rights” bill that would have essentially enabled the removal of our entire election system from the sphere of the states and their citizens, then stashed it at the DNC.

Very good speech. Does the Constitution give the vote to the States? If that is true, then it can’t be taken away by Congress.

Unfortunately, Congress can make voting laws.

Although the Elections Clause makes states primarily responsible for regulating congressional elections, it vests ultimate power in Congress. Congress may pass federal laws regulating congressional elections that automatically displace (“preempt”) any contrary state statutes, or enact its own regulations concerning those aspects of elections that states may not have addressed. The Framers of the Constitution were concerned that states might establish unfair election procedures or attempt to undermine the national government by refusing to hold elections for Congress. They empowered Congress to step in and regulate such elections as a self-defense mechanism.

Mornin’ All. Hot, humid, yada, yada, yada. Got some chores to do today.

And, Loki is going to the Vet for a couple of shots. Stupid office has contacted me, once by email, three times by letter stuck on my door. The last one said, “Since we have not heard from you blah, blah, blah”. I have talked to the office twice. I would have already taken care of it, except when I talked to them, they said I had to have Loki’s shot record, a picture, and a picture of her license. Well, all her shots are due in early July. So it made sense to get them before I renew my lease because they would just come back to me. I think they have a problem. If I don’t turn in everything at one time, then THEY have to go back and redo some paperwork. They have NEVER bothered me like this before. And, I just need to sign the lease before the middle of July. Suffice it to say I am annoyed. They up my rent $32 a mo. and then aggravate me for weeks. :\

Obviously I am angry…….I forgot to tell you what I was mad about. I have to renew my lease for a year. Usually a simple thing.

Good day to you, aus! It’s 78 headed for 88 here. So far today I’ve avoided using the air conditioning but did turn on the bathroom fans, especially in the cats’ bathroom. It can get mighty stuffy/warm in there and the babies must have their comforts when they are in the comfort station.

Looks like rents are going up everywhere and housing sales prices are rising absurdly. I signed a new lease which raised my rental $25. One of my neighbors, however, had her rental go up $100, which I find very odd. I didn’t tell her what my raise was because I didn’t want to upset her. If they had raised mine $100 I would just have to pay it since there’s no way I’m in a condition to look for a new place and pack up all my things for a move. It does give me an incentive to start giving more or my things to the animal rescue thrift shop, though. I just try my best not to worry about it.

      LIFE!

I’m really happy I finally bought a home of my own (20 years ago now). I have refinanced twice and my mortgage payment is quite reasonable. Even with insurance and taxes, I’m still paying less than I did in rent all those years ago. Of course, I bear the cost of any improvements or repairs but I still like this better than having a landlord.

In 1980 I was renting a three bedroom, two bath house for $700 in L.A. It was built around 1940 and renovated to add a large bedroom and bath at the back in the 50s. The landlady put it on the market and I scrambled to get financing but it sold for $168,000 before I could get it all together. THAT was how cheap older houses were going for in West L.A. at the time. Within months the market started changing so astronomically that I could never again afford such a large home. Even 2 bed/1 ba homes built in 1950 were over $500,000 and now those same homes are going for perhaps a million. Ridiculous.

I understand. One of my cousins moved out there before the market went crazy and had a nice home with relatively low property taxes. We have a similar tax law here in Michigan, btw.

And people then sold their houses and moved to Utah and Colorado, and ran the prices up so now the Czarevich cannot find a 1 bedroom rental he can afford! He is staying in a storage room of his friend’s parents’ house!

I knew that the pipeline was safer, but I didn’t fully realize the amount of rail/truck capacity it would take to replace it.

Oh, yeah, unless there is an accident and the rail cars run off the tracks or the trucks get involved in an accident and the oil goes everywhere.

    Excellent summary from Michael Yon….

Demobilization: Why Communists Eventually Kill ‘Useful Idiots’
[I first published this on 01 September 2020 — just as I arrived to America after many years overseas in wars and conflict.]
Events unfolding in America are nothing new. This is old school insurgency and growing civil war.

Jen Psaki ‘Fact Checks’ Republican on Gas Prices Under Joe Biden, Gets Busted in Egregious Lie

Jen Psaki not only has difficulty telling the truth at her press conferences, the White House Press Secretary is also honesty-challenged on Twitter, as well.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.! How to hate America so vehemently that you don’t even care about the wellbeing of the poor saps having to live in your jurisdiction and ignorantly voting for you every year! This is as sick as it comes.

While they celebrate the election triumph of a convicted murderer, homicides in D.C. are on pace to shatter records. Last year the rate hit a 16-year high and in 2021 it is expected to be worse, according to Metropolitan Police Department data. The figures show homicides are already up 13% from last year.
